TEAM NOTES
- The Titans lost 19-16 in their third overtime game of the season after previously defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in overtime (Sept. 17) and losing to the Indianapolis Colts in overtime (Dec. 3). The three overtime games in a season tied the 1983 (0-3) and 2021 (2-1) teams for the most in a season in franchise history.
- The Titans had six defensive linemen active for the game. Apart from Denico Autry, the other five were not on the team's 53-man roster in Week 1: TK McLendon Jr. (practice squad in Week 1), Keondre Coburn (active with Kansas City), Jaleel Johnson (free agent), Quinton Bohanna (Detroit's practice squad) and Marlon Davidson (San Francisco's practice squad). Coburn and Bohanna registered their Titans debuts, including a start for Bohanna.
- The Titans defense limited the Texans offense to four conversions on 15 third-down attempts (26.7 percent). It marked the fifth time in 2023 that the opposing offense was kept under 30 percent by the Titans on third down.
- The Texans offense was limited by the Titans defense to 192 net passing yards. It was the fourth time in 2023 that the Titans defense did not allow an opponent to reach 200 net passing yards.
- The Titans defense totaled four sacks, marking the fifth time this season that the unit tallied at least four sacks and the 10th time this season that the unit tallied at least three sacks. Through the early afternoon games of Dec. 17, the Titans' 10 games with at least three sacks tied the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs for the NFL lead.
- The Titans limited the Texans offense to one touchdown in three red-zone drives. The Titans, who entered the week ranked first in the NFL in red-zone defense, have allowed only 19 touchdowns on 51 opponent possessions inside the 20 in 2023 (37.3 percent).
- For the second time in 2023 and the second time in a three-week span, the Titans scored a touchdown on their first offensive possession. Against Houston, they marched 83 yards on 11 plays, culminating with a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Will Levis. It was the eighth total occasion in 2023 in which the Titans scored on their first drive, having also managed six drives for field goals to open games.
ILB AZEEZ AL-SHAAIR
- Led the team with 13 tackles. His two tackles for loss tied for the team lead.
- Notched his sixth game of the season in which he led the team in tackles.
- Logged his seventh double-digit tackle performance of the season.
DL DENICO AUTRY
- Registered four tackles, including a team-high two sacks.
- Produced his 12th career game with two or more sacks, including his fifth-such performance since joining the Titans in 2021.
- In the fourth quarter, he ended a Houston drive with a nine-yard sack of Case Keenum on third down. In overtime, he ended another drive with a 10-yard sack of Keenum on third down.
- Recorded his 10th and 11th sacks of the season to set a career high, eclipsing the nine sacks he recorded in 2018 and 2021.
- Joined Jevon Kearse (14.5 sacks in 1999; 11.5 in 2000), Kyle Vanden Bosch (12.5 in 2005; 12 in 2007), Jason Babin (12.5 in 2010) and Harold Landry III (12 in 2021) as the only members of the team in its "Titans era" (since 1999) to record at least 11 sacks in a season.
- Registered the team's 11th double-digit sack season in its "Titans era" (1999–present) and the first since Harold Landry III in 2021 (12).
- Leads the Titans with 28 sacks since joining the team in 2021.
- Increased his career total to 58.5 sacks.
DL QUINTON BOHANNA
- Started in his first game with the Titans and totaled two tackles.
WR TREYLON BURKS
- Led the team with 62 receiving yards on three receptions.
- Hauled in a 37-yard pass in the first quarter during a touchdown drive and added a 20-yard catch later in the first quarter.
DL MARLON DAVIDSON
- Totaled two tackles, including a sack.
- Sacked Case Keenum for an eight-yard loss in overtime. It was his second career sack and his first as a member of the Titans.
S TERRELL EDMUNDS
- Registered a 10-yard sack of Case Keenum on the final play of regulation to help force overtime.
- Tallied his seventh career sack and his second sack with the Titans in 2023.
K NICK FOLK
- Was successful on his only field goal attempt and made one of his two extra point attempts. He made a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
- Reached the 100-point mark (103) for the 11th time in his career and for the fourth consecutive season.
LB JACK GIBBENS
- Tied for second on the team with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss.
RB DERRICK HENRY
- Rushed for nine yards on 16 attempts and also totaled one yard on a team-high four receptions.
- With 16 rushing attempts, he finished the game with 1,980 career attempts to pass Earl Campbell (1,979) for the second-highest total in franchise history behind Eddie George (2,733).
S AMANI HOOKER
- Tied for second on the defense with eight tackles.
WR DeANDRE HOPKINS
- Tallied a pair of receptions for 21 yards.
- Recorded a 17-yard catch that helped lead to a field goal in the fourth quarter.
- Extended his active streak to 159 consecutive games with a reception—every game he has played since he entered the NFL. He surpassed Marshall Faulk (158) for the third-longest such streak to begin a career in NFL history behind only Marvin Harrison (190 consecutive games) and Keyshawn Johnson (167).
WR MASON KINSEY
- Totaled 17 yards on a career-high four punt returns.
OLB HAROLD LANDRY III
- Totaled six tackles.
- Forced an intentional grounding penalty with his pass rush in the second quarter.
QB WILL LEVIS
- Completed 17 of 26 passes for 199 yards with one interception.
- Added 25 rushing yards and a touchdown on four attempts.
- On the team's first drive, he completed a 37-yard pass to Treylon Burks in the first quarter and a 33-yarder to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to help set up his one-yard rushing touchdown.
- Scored his first career touchdown on a one-yard run in the first quarter.
- Became the fourth rookie quarterback in franchise history to start at least eight games, joining Dan Pastorini (eight starts in 1971), Vince Young (13 starts in 2006) and Marcus Mariota (12 starts in 2015).
CB ROGER McCREARY
- Totaled seven tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defensed.
DB ELIJAH MOLDEN
- Recorded an interception and tied for the team lead with two passes defensed. He added three tackles.
- In the second quarter, he intercepted a Case Keenum pass and returned the ball 45 yards for a touchdown. It was his second career interception—both of which went for touchdowns. His first was a two-yard return for a score at Indianapolis on Oct. 31, 2021. Against Houston, he recorded the team's first interception return for a touchdown since Andrew Adams' 76-yarder against Indianapolis on Oct. 23, 2022.
WR CHRIS MOORE
- Totaled 39 yards on three receptions.
- Hauled in a 23-yard pass to convert a third-and-10 in overtime.
- Added a 19-yard kickoff return.
TE CHIG OKONKWO
- Totaled 36 yards on three receptions.
- Caught a 22-yard pass in the third quarter.
RB TYJAE SPEARS
- Recorded a team-high 30 yards on nine carries and added a reception for seven yards.
S K'VON WALLACE
- Totaled four tackles and tied for the team lead with two passes defensed.
OLB RASHAD WEAVER
- Posted three tackles and one tackle for loss on defense.
- Led the team with two special teams tackles.
WR NICK WESTBROOK-IKHINE
- Caught a 33-yard pass in the first quarter to help set up a touchdown two plays later.
P TY ZENTNER
- Punted eight times for a 45.3-yard gross average and a 38.6-yard net average with one punt placed inside the 20.
- Launched a 58-yard field goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter. It was his longest career punt through six games.
Pinned the Texans on their own three-yard line with a 47-yard punt on the final play of the third quarter.
