MOBILE, Ala. – Shrine Bowl. ✅
Senior Bowl, up next.
It's been a busy stretch.
After spending the weekend in Dallas at the East-West Shrine Bowl, I made it to Mobile last night for Senior Bowl week, which gets under way on Tuesday.
I'll be here for a few days before heading back to Nashville later in the week.
Before practices start on Tuesday, I took a little break to bang out a quick mailbag.
Let's go…

Question: Hey Jim! Thanks for the work you do and letting us fans get our word in. Really makes us feel like a part of the team! A couple things if ya don't mind. I really think the new GM and ST coach where great hires. I get a sense that Cally and new GM are clicking. I think "Bones" is a great coach, him and his special teams units are well respected across the league. Everyone is all about what's going to happen at the QB position I want to know about the right side of the line? We have to protect this number 1 pick right. So who do you like in FA and the draft at RT/RG ?
Jim: I agree with you on the hires. Mike Borgonzi was arguably the top GM candidate on the market, and the team moved fast to get him. President of Football Operations Chad Brinker deserves a lot of credit for running a quick and thorough search. And, Brian Callahan acted fast to land John Fassel as his special teams coach as well. Everyone I talked to in Dallas raved about Fassel, and I was able to chat with him myself. The players, and fans, are going to like him. As for the right side of the line, I promise you it's going to be addressed, at guard and tackle. It's just a matter of who, and when.

Question: Yeah, I am a true Titan fan, but what does it say about the franchise when two former players have made it to the Super Bowl since they left the Titans team? Don't believe the team on the field are responsible for their overall standings, what you Think?
Jim: Hey Kenneth. I appreciate you taking the time, but this isn't a great take. Look at both Super Bowl teams, and you'll find a bunch of players who played elsewhere before joining them. What do you think the Giants think about Saquon Barkley tearing it up for the Eagles? I know you're referring to A.J. Brown and DeAndre Hopkins. Everyone knows the A.J. trade is one that will haunt the team forever. But let's keep in real with D-Hop, who has had a great career. He had one catch for 11 yards in the AFC Championship Game, and zero catches in the playoff game vs the Texans. He had two catches for seven yards in the game before that one, against the Steelers. With all due respect to D-Hop, the Chiefs aren't in the Super Bowl because of him.
Scottie Hargis from Gibson, Tennessee
Question: Hey Jim! I would like to know your opinion on the quarterback class this year and what you see us doing in the draft. Do you think we draft Shedeur Sanders with the number one pick or Cam Ward. My personal opinion is Trade down with the Giants and get the number three pick and a third. After that we draft Abdul Carter with the third pick and Jaxson Dart with our Second. I would love to hear your opinion about this!!
Jim: Shedeur made a great impression on me at the Shrine Bowl, without watching him throw a single pass. And, by the way, I didn't have a problem with him not practicing, or playing in the game. I give him credit for showing up, and making himself available to the team. All the Titans folks I talked to him were impressed by his maturity, and attitude. Count me among those impressed by him. I was looking for extra time with Shedeur after his media availability, and figured he'd pass. I was down there with Donald Page (photographer), Todd Gray (video producer) and Max Walsh (broadcast assistant) from our staff. With the No.1 pick, we're going to be gathering a lot of content. When Shedeur heard we wanted to talk to him separately, he invited us into a closed-off area to join him, and he got up and shook all of our hands. He didn't have to do the interview, but he chose to do so, and he was great. At this point, I have no idea who the team might pick at 1. I don't think the GM knows at this point. But Shedeur made a great impression. … Your trade scenario is intriguing, but I'm not so sure about Dart at this point.
Roger Piccirillo from Bridgeport, Connecticut
Question: Hey Jim, I for one would not take any of the quarterbacks in this draft first overall. I think it's a weak quarterback class. I'm not saying they shouldn't draft a quarterback but I think they need wait until day two I'm under the opinion team should draft a quarterback every year develop them throw as many of them against the wall and see if any of them stick. If it was up to me, I would trade the number one pick for more draft picks you can never have enough draft picks. Now if they're going to use that first overall pick it has to be Abdul Carter. And I got to say I don't understand what all the hype is around Sanders anyone who drafts him better be ready for a circus with his father involved forget about it. I like thought on whether you think Ryan Tannihill will get another opportunity to play call me crazy but after watching the quarterback play last year I still think RT is one of 32. As always thanks for what you do. Enjoy the off season.
Jim: I do think Ryan Tannehill would have performed better than a lot of QBs in the league last year. I always thought he was underrated, and underappreciated.
Steve Johnson from Crossville, Tennessee
Question: Hi Jim. I'd like to get your opinion on if you think Joe Milton III, if he were in this draft, would be ranked above Ward and Sanders? I'd love to see the Titans trade our #1 for Milton III, their #4 pick and possibly their 2nd and 3rd round pick. He's still on his rookie contract and I think he could compete with Will Levis. What do you think Jim?
Jim: I think Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker would probably go 1 and 2 in this year's draft ... C'mon Steve, take off those orange-tinted glasses.
Steve Crosio from Toms River, New Jersey
Question: Hey there Jim, if Mike Borgonzi decides to draft Travis Hunter and he decides to play both Wide Receiver and Cornerback would that put Mike Borgonzi on an early hot seat if he gets injured?
Jim: To borrow the line from Def Leppard's 'Armageddon It', again: C'mon Steve!
Richard Robles from Springfield, Tennessee
Question: Hi! The Tennessee Titans needs to draft Georgia QB Carson Beck as the Number One Pick! I also remind you that this will be an awesome pick for the Number One pick!
Jim: Nope.
Will Mitchell from Burlington, Vermont
Question: Sheduer?
And...do we have a head coach waiting in the wings if we draft him? #CoachPrime
Thanks pal, Will
Jim: We'll see on Shedeur. Brian Callahan is the head coach.
William Fonseca from Lorain, Ohio
Question: CAM WARD BABY!!!
Jim: I continued to get plenty of votes for Cam in here.
Have a great week everyone.
