NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Thursday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders in Landover, Maryland.
Here's a look at some Titans topics in quick-hitting fashion:
-Titans outside linebacker Rashad Weaver is off to a fast start, and he wants to keep it up.
Weaver has four sacks through four games, which has him in some pretty good company when it comes to most sacks by a Titans player in the team's first four games of a season from 2013-2022.
Derrick Morgan had 4.5 sacks through four games in 2015, but Weaver is tied for second place with Brian Orakpo's total of four in 2016. Jurrell Casey had 3.5 in 2015.
"I think it's something I've always had a knack for, just being around the quarterback," Weaver said. "Having great players around me on the d-line, the other outside linebackers, and coaches adding to that knack, I think that has allowed me to go out there and play and come up with the sacks."
Among second-year players, Weaver, Bills rusher Greg Rousseau and Cowboys rusher Micah Parsons are tied for the lead with the most sacks through four games.
With more success, Weaver knows he could face more attention.
But he's happy for the opportunities following the season-ending injury to Harold Landry, and a recent setback that has limited Bud Dupree's availability as well.
"No one wants to see your brothers go down," Weaver said, "but when they do you have to be able to step up."
-Titans safety Amani Hooker (concussion), who missed Sunday's game vs the Colts, did not practice on Thursday after being limited in Wednesday's practice. Hooker remains in the team's concussion protocol, and his status for Sunday's game remains uncertain. We'll have to monitor this one throughout the week.
-Titans linebacker Zach Cunningham, who suffered an elbow injury vs the Raiders and didn't play vs the Colts, did not practice again on Thursday.
-Titans defensive back Ugo Amadi (ankle), who has missed the past two games, practiced again on Thursday. He was a full participant.
-Titans receiver Treylon Burks (toe), injured in Sunday's game in Indianapolis, did not practice again on Thursday.
-Titans outside linebacker Bud Dupree (hip), who played just nine plays vs the Colts before aggravating his hip injury, did not practice again on Thursday.
-Titans outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi (neck), who has missed the past two games, did not practice again on Thursday.
-Titans linebacker Joe Jones (hip), injured in Sunday's game in Indianapolis, did not practice again on Thursday.
-The Titans added cornerback Caleb Farley to the Injury Report (knee) and listed him as a limited participant.
-Titans center Ben Jones was also added to the Injury Report (back) and listed as a limited participant.
-Titans fullback Tory Carter (neck) was on the practice field on Thursday in a yellow caution jersey. He was listed as a limited participant.
-Titans guard Nate Davis did not practice on Thursday. Davis has been getting a day off on Thursdays in recent weeks, but the team did add him to the Injury Report with a 'knee'.
-Linebacker Monty Rice, designated for return to practice off PUP on Wednesday, practiced for the second day on a row on Thursday. The designation opened a 21-day window to make a decision on Rice, and he remains on the team's PUP list.
I chatted with Rice before practice as he was getting ready to take the field. The video is below:
-Outside linebacker Wyatt Ray was back in the practice field on Thursday after being signed to the team's practice squad.
-The Commanders released their second Injury Report of the week on Thursday and it looked like this: S Percy Butler (quad), T Sam Cosmi (finger), WR Jahan Dotson (hamstring), LB Milo Eifler (hamstring), and WR Curtis Samuel (illness) did not practice for the second straight day. Charles Leno (shoulder) and LB David Mayo (hamstring) were limited for the second day in a row, while CB William Jackson (back) and DT Daniel Wise (ankle) were full participants once again.
-Former Titans linebacker Tim Shaw attended Thursday's practice.
-I did a separate story on Titans running back Derrick Henry today. CLICK HERE to read it.
And here's a video below of Henry talking about Commanders running back Brian Robinson, who, like Henry, played at Alabama:
-The Titans are scheduled to practice again on Friday before traveling to the Washington, D.C., area for Sunday's game vs the Commanders.
