It's Texans Week: Quick Hits on the Titans After Friday's Practice

NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's game at the Houston Texans.

Here's a look at today's developments:

-Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed is headed to Injured Reserve, coach Brian Callahan said on Friday.

Sneed, who has already missed the past five games this season with a quad injury, will now be sidelined for at least four more games.

Callahan didn't rule out Sneed returning at some point this season, but he said right now it's most important for Sneed to get rest.

"As I said before, we thought (Sneed) had a quad bruise, a pretty significant quad bruise," Callahan said. "It didn't get better very fast. It turned out, after we did some scans on it, he had a pretty significant squad strain on top of that. Those things generally are a couple of weeks, and we felt like we had a chance to get him back. It has not progressed, and it has been more complicated than a normal strain would be. So, the rest is the best thing for him at this point. … The IR at this point makes the most sense for him, to take a couple of weeks and get that quad right.

"It's a bummer for him, and it's obviously disappointing for us as well. … He's been fighting like hell to come back, that's the one thing I appreciate about it. He's tried everything possible and (the injury) just hasn't responded the way he, or us, would have hoped. We'll just let him rest it, and put him on IR."

-Receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will be the extra captain for Sunday's game.

-Callahan said John Ojukwu will be active and could rotate in at right tackle behind starter Nicholas Petit-Frere. Callahan indicated Isaiah Prince will probably be inactive on Sunday.

Now, all the injury updates from Friday:

-Titans tackle Leroy Watson (back) has been ruled OUT for Sunday's game.

-Running back Tyjae Spears (concussion) did not practice again on Friday and he's been ruled OUT for Sunday's game. Callahan said Spears didn't pass the steps in the concussion protocol quickly enough to be able to play.

-Cornerback Roger McCreary (knee) practiced on a limited basis on Friday. He'll be listed as QUESTIONABLE for Sunday's game, but Callahan said he's optimistic about his chances of playing.

-Defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day (biceps) practiced Friday and he's good to go.

-Linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. (shoulder) practiced Friday and he's good to go.

-Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons (NIR-Rest) practiced Friday and he's good to go.

-Defensive back Justin Hardee (groin) was limited at Friday's practice and he's QUESTIONABLE for Sunday's game.

-Receiver Calvin Ridley (illness) practiced Friday and he's good to go.

-Linebacker Jack Gibbens will also be placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday. Gibbens is expected to be out for the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury in last Sunday's game.

-Callahan said tackle Jaelyn Duncan is still a couple of weeks away from returning from his hamstring injury.

-The Texans released their final injury report on Friday.

It looked like this: DL Denico Autry (knee/oblique) is QUESTIONABLE. DT Folorunso Fatukasi (foot) and T Blake Fisher (concussion) are OUT.

-The Titans will hold a walkthrough on Saturday in Nashville before traveling to Houston later in the day.

Next up: at Houston Texans, Sunday at noon CST.
