Tuesday Mailbag: Jim Wyatt Answers Questions From Titans Fans

Mailbag---Ask-Jim-(9)

NASHVILLE – Welcome to the last week of June.

And, to another Titans mailbag.

A month from today, the Titans will be in training camp.

Hard to believe, huh?

For now, let's jump into the latest mailbag …

Here's the link to submit questions: CLICK HERE

Michael Lewis from Tucson, Arizona
Question: Do you think Tyjae Spears or Tony Pollard will run for 1k yards?

Jim: If I had to bet on it, I'd say no. It's not that I don't think they're capable. I just think the team will use them both to such a degree they might not have enough carries to get to 1K. Also, this is going to be an offense that throws the ball a lot more, so both of these guys are going to rack up a good chunk of receiving yards. 1k all-purpose yards is definitely a possibility for one of them, and maybe both. But we'll see. A lot of unknowns here on what things might look like, however, and the fact Joe Mixon topped 1,000 in the Cincy offense in 2019, 2021 and 2023 helps make a case it could happen.

Lee Swain from Joelton, Tennessee
Question: Although it may be three years away ..... SERIOUS thought needs to be given as to whom will sing the first regular season game National Anthem in the new domed Nissan Stadium.
? Fisk Jubilee Singers, Trace Adkins, Reba, Dolly, Brad Paisley? .... surely the first game in the new venue will be a national broadcast game ... Miss Amy et al need to get this right.

Jim: Something to think about for sure, Lee. Wonder if Taylor Swift will be available? ...

Alex Athanasi from London, England, UK
Question: Hi Jim, great to meet you at the Titans Community Day in London last year, was a dream-come-true experience for me.
Two questions:
1. Who of the undrafted free agent signings we currently have trying out, has the best chance to make the team (either the 53 or the practice squad)?
2. We have added value in almost every area of our team this year, including now having arguably one of the best WR cores in the league, so why do so many "experts" have us as one of the worst teams going into next year? I saw one "expert" predict we would go 3-13?
Thanks again for all you do

Jim: It was great to meet you, Alex. I think I was walking around with no sleep the night before that morning, so hopefully I was making sense! 😊
Good question on the undrafted guys. I'll just say cornerback Gabe Jeudy-Lally has stood out the most so far, but I'll have a lot better idea when the pads come on.
As for the prediction questions, I'm betting the low expectations for the team has something to do with the Tians losing 18 of its last 24 games. This year's team is going to have to earn respect.

D'Andre Nelson from Clarksville, Tennessee
Question: Hey Mr. Wyatt, been a while since I wrote. I'm still a bit sad Derrick Henry moved to Baltimore (remember I said he was my favorite RB all time) but I am happy that we have addressed our problems in the offseason. Also, how do you think that a new playbook and a bit more harder practice could improve the progression of the rookies? I have a lot of suggestions that could help but I don't know if they'll get to coach Callahan. I'll stay a Titans fan and I hope you guys pick me in the draft when I get out of college.

Jim: Hey D'Andre. Derrick will always be missed, I'm sure. He's a great one. As for the rookies, they're progressing. Will keep an eye out for D'Andre Nelson in an upcoming draft!

Alberto Armando Tellez Salcedo from Durango, Mexico
Finalmente veremos si OTA y minicampamentos lucen Jaylen Harrell, Caleb Murphy y Thomas Rush, si no estan libres aun Emmanuel Ogbah, Carl Lawson y Yannick Ngakoue.

Drew Stanton from Alstead, New Hampshire
Question: Hi Jim. As MLB is looking at adding expansion teams and there's talk of a team in Nashville. Should the management trying to land a MLB team, call the team, "The Greats!" in honor of the Country Music Legends, Andrew and Rachel Jackson and Pro Wrestling Greats, Jeff and Jerry Jarrett! And with the slogan, "You may play anywhere else can to your best, but when you play in Nashville, you play with the Greats! And this way also use the slogan "Nashville, home to Greatness!" So what's your take? And as always, Opinions Please!

Jim: Oh man, Drew, you've put a lot of thought into this. But it seems like this should be in someone else's mailbag. I'd love to see Nashville land a baseball team. Not sure "Greats" is a great nickname, though.

Have a great week everyone!
