NASHVILLE – The Titans have completed a first-round virtual interview with Bears Assistant General Manager Ian Cunningham for the team's General Manager position.
Interviews with other candidates will continue in the coming days.
Cunningham is in his third season as Assistant GM with the Bears.
In Chicago, he serves as the top lieutenant to Bears General Manager Ryan Poles.
Cunningham arrived in Chicago with 14 years of NFL front office experience, having most recently served as Director of Player Personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles, a position he was promoted to at the beginning of the 2021 season.
Prior to his promotion, Cunningham worked as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel (2019-20) and oversaw the college scouting department from 2017-18 as the Director of College Scouting.
A two-time Super Bowl Champion (XLVII and LII) as a member of the Baltimore Ravens' and Eagles' front office, Cunningham's NFL front office career began in 2008 when he was hired in Baltimore as a Player Personnel Assistant. After five seasons as an assistant, he worked as a Southeast Area Scout for the Ravens for two seasons (2013-14) before taking on additional responsibility as the Southeast/Southwest Area Scout from 2015-16.
On Tuesday, Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk made the decision to part ways with general manager Ran Carthon, who was hired prior to the 2023 season.
Chad Brinker, the Titans president of football operations, is running the search for the new GM.
The plan is to interview a large number of candidates, including personnel evaluators across the NFL.
On Friday, the Titans interviewed Dolphins Senior Personnel Executive Reggie McKenzie, former Falcons GM Thomas Demitroff and Buccaneers Assistant General Manager John Spytek.
Colts Assistant GM Ed Dodds, Seahawks Senior Director of Player Personnel Matt Berry, Bills Director of Player Personnel Terrance Gray and Browns Assistant GM & VP of Football Operations Catherine Hickman all interviewed for the position on Saturday.
After the first round of interviews, additional interviews are expected to be conducted with those advancing in the process as the team looks to identify its next general manager.
