NASHVILLE – The 2025 NFL Draft is now in the rear-view mirror.
The Titans put together a nine-player draft class, featuring six offensive players, and three defensive players.
Quarterback Cam Ward, of course, was the first overall pick.
Many of you predicted this would happen.
All of you seem to have an opinion.
Let's dive into this Tuesday's mailbag to check the pulse…

Comment: I am originally from Miami, but lived in Nashville for many years, and became a big Titans fan. I now live back in Miami, and my daughter goes to the University of Miami so I watched Cam Ward up close and personal this past year, and I can tell you the Titans have themselves a winner not only as a football player but as a young man. I am sure everyone watching the draft noticed how composed and professional he was at all times, and that is who he is. All business and all about winning. Mature beyond his years. Now I know, reading your mailbag, how you hate the disrespect angle, but I was literally upset at the way the coverage of the draft disrespected Cam. ESPN spent the entire time leading up to the selection with Mel Kiper ranting about how he has Sanders ranked above Cam, and showing highlights of Sanders for the most part instead of Cam. They also broke to the news of the Jaguars trade with the Browns as Cam was literally walking up to the stage. It really pissed me off lol! I am sure I cared more about it than Cam did, because he would say it does not matter and he will prove any doubters and Mel Kiper wrong on the field. Kiper was already proven wrong off the field as no NFL team picked Sanders in the first round as you know. So all 32 teams obviously disagreed with him. Anyway, can't wait for the season to start. We will be rooting for the Titans as always but this year will be wearing the Cam Ward Hurricanes jersey my daughter bought me!

Comment: Hi again Jim. If you remember, I suggested that the Titans draft Ward...and his wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, back in November..... I just heard that Restrepo is a Titan!!!
He is now Cam's favorite target.....he's not a speed demon and he's not super tall....but he knows how to get open and if he can touch it.....he'll catch it.
I have thought for the last 7 months that these 2 should become Titans....and they have! The team is automatically elevated as a much improved team in the eyes of the faithful.
I have no intention of comparing Ward to Dan Marino .... or Daffy duck for that matter..... as I did for Mr Levis......but I think he can be a really good #2 if he's willing to listen, learn and work hard.
Anyway, kickoff is only 4+ months away....so enjoy your summer and get ready for a much more enjoyable season!!!
This coming season will be a lot better than many people think....so, just hide in the weeds Jim, and see what happens!

Comment: Jim. Hope everyone is doing well. So glad they selected Cam Ward. Very excited to see him play.
Hopefully he is the starter and let him play, that's why we drafted him. Don't want him to be on the sidelines for two years holding clipboard. That's the way it was with Derrick Henry After 2 years then he started. The rookie Quarterback from Commanders started right away and he almost made it to the Super Bowl. Hopefully Cam will do the same thing for the Titans. Keep up the Awesome 😎 Work Jim

Comment: Hey Jim! First of all, just want to give kudos to the entire Titans Staff for the Draft Party on Thursday. The quality of such events has taken a significant step forward in the last few years, and the hometown fans have noticed. It's appreciated by the diehards like me, that's for sure.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this draft class. Initially, I was hesitant to embrace the changes this offseason brought, but I'm now a firm believer in the mission our new brass has set forth. I'm willing to bet 90% of your mailbag is about Cam (rightfully so, what an impressive young man!), and you probably won't be shocked by this, but I am stoked with our selection of Jackson Slater later in the draft.
I can't imagine a better situation for him to be in. He'll have an opportunity to learn from some experienced vets like Cushenberry and Zeitler, and will be tutored by one of the best line coaches in the league. Everything I've read about his talent and work ethic has been super positive, and any OL who has the stamp of approval from the great Reggie McKenzie is good in my book. Having the opportunity to grow along young studs like Big Pete and JC is awfully exciting too. Here's to a better 2025 and beyond!!! Titan Up!!

Comment: I don't have a question but as a long time passionate Titan fan from Northern California, I had a fun this weekend regarding the draft. As alumni of Sacramento State, I spent a lot of time on Saturdays watching or going to their games. Sac State does not produce a lot of draft picks so when the Titans selected Jackson Slater I was pretty excited. I pretty much seen everyone of Jackson's football games at Sac State. I can tell you we are getting a tough guy with a high football IQ that loves the game. Another awesome part of the weekend was when the Titans drafted Femi Oladejo who went to a local high school in my hometown before he went off to Cal and UCLA. There are not many Titan fans in this area so having this local connection with these players being drafted by the Titans made for a fun weekend. I look forward to seeing Slater and Oladejo develop into great players for the Titans.

Comment: Well, I wish we traded down and loaded up on good picks for this year and next. That Jacksonville package would have been sweet. I'd have grabbed Kyle McCord in the 4th or 5th and let him compete - he's at least a solid QB2 option if not a starter. We need too many players and could have stacked up. With an improved OL hopefully he and Will Levis could have gotten a true chance - you can fault Levis for trying too hard to be a hero, but our porous OL would make even Josh Allen look bad.
All that said...I think we did a good job, especially in the Day 3 rounds. And grabbing Restrepo in UFA is like a free late round pick besides giving Ward comfort with a target he knows well. I'm not deluded enough to think we are a SB contender yet, but we certainly took some steps in the right direction. There's a lot riding on Cam Ward, and a lot riding on our gamble to take him. He's wearing Titans gear, so I'm firmly in his corner and hope his legacy of defying the odds continues.

Comment: Jim, great draft coverage by you and your team! I followed the draft all 3 days! I would give the Titans an A on their selections. Checked all the boxes on needs: QB - A+ check, Edge Rushers B+ (raw undeveloped talent) check, WR, 3 complementary WRs that each have different skill set - A, Safety with huge upside side - B+, Short Yardage RB - B, a TE that can block and catch - B+, iOL - high potential for the future - B+, and CB for depth & Special teams - B. 4 of the draft picks can help the special Teams. Great draft. Since I no longer live locally I had to watch ESPN. THEY GET AN F. Barely talked or showed any thing on the #1 pick. And I swear every time the Titans picked they went to commercial. Some times they hardly mentioned the Titans pick! For the most part it was the Sheduer Sanders show. Pathetic coverage!

Comment: Good day Jim!!! What a draft and what a start to the Mike Borgonzi era!!! I am so excited about this draft class. Borgonzi hit in all needed areas, and I cannot wait to the kids he picks up on the undrafted side. Being a lifelong Longhorn fan, I love the Gunner Helm pick. I think he will fit right in along with Chimere. I cannot wait to see this group on the field!! Have a great week and as always TITAN UP!!!!

Comment: Hello Mr Jim been a heckuva 3-4 days. Not sure what to make of the draft definitely didn't give it an A or even a B, probably a B- but what the heck do I know.First off I liked the trading down which I expected but was underwhlemed with the selection of a Edge rusher thought Titans would go WR with Tre Harris being available but like I said before I'm not a talent evaluator nor did I watch any College games, just some clips on prospects, so...next the selection of K Winston wasn't a surprize from the viewpoint of the Titans needing to bring in more Safety help I just got the feeling they were scrambling after the Bengals took Fairchild who I thought Tennessee would have taken...the Dike pick at 103 caught me off guard since I had never heard of him and he looks awfully tiny...but heck speed wins at WR right. Some of the guys I had pegged going to the Titans were there for the taking but they other ideas...The only one I hit was Jackson Slater the LOG/C from Sacramento State and it was good to see Xavier Restrepo signed as a undrafted UFA. Pulling for all the youngsters the Titans chose and I hope Cam Ward turns into a Super-Star like the Numero Uno(Warren Moon) that once donned that number for my beloved Oilers/Titans...Thank you Mr Jim for the great Mailbags and coverage as always

Comment: Nice draft for the Titans. I enjoyed seeing interviews with assistant coaches, Summerville and Boni. While coach and GM are the focus of an organization win or lose, it's the assistants and scouts who deserve a lot credit for the team we put on the field.

Comment: I guess what i'm going to ask is not necessarily a question. It appears that the organization doesn't understand the untenable position that they put a young quarterback in being Will Levis. They drafted him and moved up to get him and then put him in a system with Mike Vrabel and he showed signs of being a franchise quarterback with work needed. They completely dismantle the organization or the program by getting rid of an awesome coach, and hiring an unproven head coach who only shined under a generational talent in Joe Burrow . I believe the new front office is not giving this poor young quarterback the benefit of the doubt. Go ahead and put Cam Ward behind a swiss cheese, offensive line and no real weapons, and see how he does. The ownership of this club has made bonehead moves all the time. I mean, it's such a joy to see AJ. Brown and Derek Henry thriving on other teams and now an ex head coach that's probably going to the resurrect, the Patriots. Do you think in your opinion that this organization should have traded their pick and got picks to bolster an anemic roster to ensure whatever quarterback was at the helm would have a fighting chance? Thank you new GM for drafting a generational talent. Do you think Cam Ward is a generational talent or Travus Henry? Gosh, imagine if Travis Henry's on the titans and Derrek Henry! The statement about drafting a generational talent was ill advised. they just should have kept their mouths shut and taken a good deal from another team to trade up for the #1 draft pick and capitalized on it. Utterly disappointing. Luv ya blue!

Comment: Hey Jim, as of right now... I'm a big Cam Ward FAN. Oilers/Titans fan since 1989 when Tom Landry was fired from my childhood favorite the Cowboys. So team first and I hope Ward works out. Having said that... I don't like it. Just between you and I like 2 guys at Buffalo Wild Wings chatting, I think it's a pressured move, a political move to 1) get rid of Carthon and Vrabel fingerprints 2) Borgonzi buckled to the younger fan base for Ward ahead of a new stadium and season ticket sales. 3) I think it's a bad value. Spending the R1P1 on Ward is like living in a single wide, winning the lotto and buying a Rolls Royce. Except the Rolls is a no doubt quality car, not a coin flip. 4) My analysis. Matt Miller from ESPN has his pro-comp for Ward as Jordan Love who has an 18-15 pro record playing with a more talented squad than the Titans. I agree. It's a solid comp. 5) Jeffery Simmons was recently quoted as saying take Carter. Mahomes was sacked a handful of times in the Superbowl and reduced to looking like a subpar QB because defense wins games. 6) Incredibly high risk for the franchise. They're cobbling together a veteran lineup of players to give Ward time and opportunity. They've invested everything into Ward. If Ward is mediocre in 25, Titans don't have a top 10 pick next year and since they have Ward, can't trade up for Allar or Manning. 7) In summary, the Titans are now committed to a minimum 2 year experiment to see how good Cam Ward is, without really building a team around him. **What would you have done, Jack?** Trade back to stack picks, taken a Jalen Milroe or Riley Leonard to fight it out with Levis and go into 2026 with multiple R1 and R2 picks.

Comment: Hola Jim estoy muy emocionado por el Draft, el cual aquí están mis calificaciones:
Cam Ward (QB) – A+
Oluwafemi Oladejo (Ed) – B+
Kevin Winston (S) – B*
Chimere Dike (WR) – C-
Gunnar Helm (TE) – B+
Elic Ayomanor (WR) – A+
Jackson Slater (G) – C+
Marcus Harris (CB) – B-
Kalel Mullings (RB) – B-
Titan Up

Comment: Hey Jim. it's been a while since I've wrote in hope all is well with you and yours. I think this year's draft was not a good draft for quarterbacks. I also think the Tennessee Titans should have traded the number one overall pick they could have filled a lot of holes. I don't understand why teams think they have to take a quarterback when they have the number one overall pick. I think over the last 10 years only two players who were not qbs have been picked with the number one overall pic. when you use the number one overall pick versus trading it you're giving up multiple first round picks and second round picks so the number one pick has to be a perennial All pro at a premium position. I think cam Ward was a mistake he will not be a starting quarterback in the NFL for very long. I would have liked to see the Titans trade the pic and stockpile picks for next year so that they can make a legitimate run at Arch Manning. 3 years from now they will still be looking for a starting quarterback.
I hope I am wrong. What do you think Cam wards floor and ceiling look like. Ty for hearing me out.

Comment: Good day Jim. I don't have a question as much as just a statement into all of these analysts grades. They all seem to have different opinions about who did or didn't do a good job in the draft. Until each and every player takes the field, makes a team and produces all the grades doesn't mean anything. There will be good and not so good result. If every player were to be the greatest then we wouldn't need the draf or free agent signings.
Appreciate everyone having the time. Have a great week!
