NASHVILLE – Treylon Burks looks different, and he feels different.
And that's a good thing for the Tennessee Titans.
"I just feel like I am just going out there and having fun, playing with my teammates," Burks said during this week's minicamp. "I am just doing my job, and having fun doing it."
Burks, the team's first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has been one of the biggest offseason standouts for the Titans this offseason.
He's in better shape, looks stronger, and he's consistently caught passes in OTAs and minicamp. It seems like quarterback Ryan Tannehill has looked to connect with Burks on the first play of just about every team period in practices, in fact.
Titans safety Kevin Byard, who joined the team for this week's minicamp, has noticed.
"Treylon looks like a different beast this year for sure," Byard said of Burks. "I just think he's playing with a lot of confidence. I really like that from him, taking that next step. We're going to need him to take that next step this year, to be that guy."
Burks caught 33 passes for 444 yards and a touchdown in 2022 while playing in 11 games, with six starts.
Burks was sidelined during the midway portion of the season with a toe injury, and he battled through other ailments as well.
Along the way, Burks showed glimpses of special things as a rookie.
He's confident he can build on that this fall.
"My confidence is out the roof," Burks said. "I would say I am playing fast, physical, and not thinking too much. I feel like all those things are showing, and I'm just getting better each day."
