NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans added another potential bodyguard for quarterback Marcus Mariota in the form of Villanova tackle Brad Seaton.
Seaton is a mountain of a man.
The 6-foot-8, 330-pounder was a pillar of strength at Villanova. He plans to bring his physical style of play to the Titans.
"They told me size and athleticism and someone who is willing to compete (is what they're looking for)," said Seaton, who visited Saint Thomas Sports Park earlier this month. "I absolutely loved (my visit), everything the team stood for, the competitiveness. Everything about the program was top-notch and it fits my character and my personal beliefs, me as a football player. It is a great fit for me."
The Titans picked Seaton in the seventh round, with the 236th overall pick.
"He's a very, very, very large man," Titans general manager Jon Robinson said of Seaton. "He really worked out well on his pro day. He was here on a visit, and spent the day with us. He's a tough, competitive guy. He's a big guy with a long reach. He'll work at both tackle spots, and we'll probably kick him in at guard and see how he holds up in there as well just to see if he can carve out a role for himself."
Seaton was a regular starter on the offensive line for Villanova. He said his size and athleticism has benefited him, and "allowed me to pretty much impose my will on players."
But he knows he needs to work on his pad level and technique while trying to earn a spot on the team. He said he's looking forward to blocking for quarterback Marcus Mariota one day.
"I think the (Titans) are a great team," Seaton said, "and I think we're going to compete for something big this year. … I think it is great, as a rookie I am going to be surrounded with guys who can teach me and I am going to bring a lot of competitiveness and I hope to get them better as they get me better."
