NASHVILLE – The Titans have selected seven captains for the 2023 season.
Coach Mike Vrabel made the news public during his press conference before Wednesday's practice at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park.
Vrabel informed the players of their vote earlier in the week.
The seven players elected:
-Quarterback Ryan Tannehill
-Running back Derrick Henry
-Safety Kevin Byard
-Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons
-Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair
-Center Aaron Brewer
-Long snapper Morgan Cox
-Tannehill was previously voted a captain in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
-Henry was previously voted a captain in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
-Byard was previously voted a captain in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
-Simmons was previously voted a captain in 2021 and 2022.
-Al-Shaair signed with the Titans in the offseason after playing previously with the 49ers.
-Brewer is a first-time captain who is the team's only returning starter on the offensive line.
-Cox is in his 14th NFL season, and his third with the Titans. He's a five-time Pro Bowler.
