NASHVILLE – The Titans selected Louisville cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in the fifth round of Saturday's NFL Draft.

Brownlee, selected with the 146th overall pick, will arrive in Tennessee with a chip on his shoulder.

He said so himself as he paced his mother's bedroom while on a zoom call after being picked.

"I'm hyped, I'm anxious, I'm kind of upset," Brownlee said. "But for me, I think I am just ready to go. It is a dream come true. It is a blessing. But for me, I am just so anxious to show the world what Jarvis Brownlee can do. I always felt like I was doubted, even to this day. So, to me, it is just another step to prove to the world what Jarvis Brownlee can do. I do feel like I am one of the top corners in this draft, and that is just for me to show the world. I am ready to do that.

"I am happy for some of those guys (that were picked ahead of me). But for me, I felt like I should have went earlier. I felt like a lot of guys that did go before me, they didn't put in the work that I did. … But God works in mysterious ways, man, so I am ready to put the work in and show the world what Jarvis Brownlee is made of."

Brownlee (5-10, 194) played the past two seasons at Louisville after playing his first three seasons at Florida State. Brownlee played in 48 career college games, with 37 starts, and he tallied 174 tackles, six interceptions, and 7.5 tackles for a loss.

Brownlee played in 11 games, with nine starts, at Louisville in 2023, when he totaled 30 tackles, and an interception. He led the team with 11 PBUs in 2022, in 13 starts, and he finished third on the team with 66 tackles.

Brownlee, who was Honorable Mention All-ACC in 2023 with the Cardinals, had more than 25 offers coming out of high school in Miami Gardens, including Florida, UCF, Boston College, LSU, and Pittsburgh.

The competitive Brownlee is expected to compete on the outside and in the slot in the NFL, with the Titans.

"I love corner, but I also love nickel," Brownlee said. "I just like being a guy who can be in charge, setting the defense, communicating, making sure the backside, we are all on the same page. That's how you have fun as a defense. We all move as one unit, and we all pull together.

"But for me, honestly, I would say I would love to play both nickel and corner. But if I had to choose where I would only play one position, I would say nickel. I love hitting and I love tackling."
