Titans QB Will Levis Focused on Scoring More Points, and Winning

Levismilitary

NASHVILLE – Titans quarterback Will Levis is starving for a win.

Levis, in fact, appeared to get a little emotional when talking about it following Sunday's loss to the Vikings.

On Wednesday, Levis said he won't play "hero ball" to get it.

"You have to just continue coming to work, knowing that how you approach your job and how you approach your day-to-day are the habits that create winning football," Levis said after Wednesday's practice. "And, we just have to know that if we just keep doing those things, then the wins are going to come.

"Can't press, can't force anything, can't try to play hero ball. … But I think if we just keep taking care of the small things like we have, then it'll come eventually."

Levis threw for a season-high 295 yards with a touchdown against the Vikings. It was the fourth 250-plus pass yards game of his career.

On Sunday, the Titans will face the Texans in Houston.

Levis knows the challenge.

He also knows some of the players on the Texans defense.

"Seeing Denico (Autry) and Azeez (Al-Shaair) out there is pretty cool," Levis said of his former Titans teammates, who are now with the Texans. "They're still playing ball at the level that we know they can. So, we know their strengths and their traits that we've got to be ready for and how we feel like we can operate against them. Across the board, they got a stout defense. They play really well. They play connected. And it's just going to be on us to figure out what we're going to be able to do to make our offense work."

In seven games this season, Levis has thrown for 1,169 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions, with a passer rating of 80.5.

The key on Sunday will be to win, of course.

To do that, the Titans will likely need to score more points than they've been scoring.

The Titans are currently ranked 28th in the NFL in scoring offense, scoring 17.0 points per game.

Red zone offense needs to improve, and everyone knows it.

"(We've) just got to be more consistent," Levis said. "Just sustain drives, get ourselves in more manageable third downs. That's been the story all year. I think we're number one in the league in third-and-11-plus. It's good, but just means we're there more often than others. So just sustaining drives throughout and making the plays down there when we can, we got to be better in the red zone and more touchdowns, less field goals.

"I'm looking at what I can do myself. I think a couple opportunities, a couple of times where I could have just found a play or gotten out of the pocket and made something happen. ... We just got to do a better job doing our jobs."
