Titans Like What They're Seeing From QB Will Levis

NASHVILLE – Will Levis spent the offseason working on himself.

So far in camp, the Titans have liked what they've seen in their second-year quarterback.

"Very pleased," Coach Brian Callahan said of Levis on Thursday. "I think Will's doing a great job playing on time. Obviously, we're focused on a little bit more of the timing elements, the shorter passing game. But man, he's been really impressive. I think his hard work this offseason and over the summer has really paid off.

"He's incredibly confident right now, and he's earned that confidence. Every day that he comes out and plays well, he earns more confidence. I think that that's the fun part about where he's at. He's dialed in. He has studied. You can just tell he's ready for what's ahead. I told him yesterday, if he keeps stacking days like he had yesterday and today, he's going to play pretty good football. It's a day-by-day process, and we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. But, I've been really pleased with where he's at."

The Titans kicked off training camp on Wednesday, and they've practiced twice so far.

In those practice sessions, Levis has completed 22-of-30 passes in 7-on-7 drills and team drills combined.

Levis has been sharp on short to medium-range passes, his best throw a lofted ball to receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine on Wednesday as he ran toward the sideline. Westbrook-Ikhine caught the pass with a defender right beside him, and he managed to get both feet inbounds.

Levis threw a strike across the middle to tight end Josh Whyle in Thursday's session, and he's made tight end Chig Okonkwo a popular target as well. It's early, but his timing has looked good with new receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd to date.

Ridley said the relationship has grown on and off the field since he signed with the team in March. During the offseason, Levis and some of the team's skill players gathered for workouts in Nashville, and in Cabo.

"Will is doing everything (right)," Ridley said. "I played with Matt Ryan (in Atlanta), and Will is doing the same thing he did. He is ready to work, and he is not satisfied. He wants it to be good, and we're going to work to get better, so when the games come, we'll be good."

Levis, who played in nine games during his rookie season in 2023, acknowledges he's seen some of his hard work pay off.

But he knows it's a long way until Week One, when the team kicks off the season in Chicago.

"Being able to develop consistency (is key)," Levis said. "Being able to go out there and not put just one period together, but in terms of operation and procedure, getting in and out of the huddle and getting people lined up correctly, the different mechanisms of the plays running on a consistent basis is going to be the biggest thing for us. We had our spurts of that throughout the spring, our first time going through the offense.

"Cally made a point (the other day) with how fast he ripped through all the installs, it's expected that we know this stuff so we can breeze through it faster. … We look forward to continuing to improve."
