NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have agreed to terms with special teams ace Eric Weems.

To make room on the team's 53-man roster, the team placed receiver Harry Douglas on Injured Reserve. Douglas sat out Thursday's preseason game at Kansas City and practices last week because of a knee injury.

Weems, who initially signed with the Titans in March, was among the team's cuts on Saturday.

At a press conference on Saturday, however, coach Mike Mularkey indicated the team would like to bring Weems back.

"We like Eric," Mularkey said of Weems, who returned six punts and a kickoff for the Titans during the preseason. "We are not done with our roster yet. We are making decisions and we'd like to have him back if we can."

A Pro Bowler in 2010, Weems ranked sixth in the NFL in punt returns last season with an 11.4 average. He had a 73-yard punt return in Week 2 last season with the Falcons, and also averaged 23.0 yards on 17 kickoff returns, with a long of 42.

In 10 NFL seasons, Weems has caught 38 passes for 353 yards and four touchdowns. Weems entered the NFL in 2007 as an undrafted free agent out of Bethune-Cookman. He's played eight of his 10 seasons with the Falcons (he played with the Bears in 2012-13).

Because of the timing of Douglas being placed on IR, the Titans will have an opportunity to recall Douglas from IR back to the active roster during the season.
