TEAM NOTES

  • Brian Callahan earned a victory in his preseason debut as the head coach of the Titans.
  • The 17-13 final score improved the Titans' all-time preseason record at Nissan Stadium to 31-16.
  • The victory gave the Titans a four-game winning streak in home preseason contests.
  • The Titans captains for the game were quarterback Will Levis, wide receiver Calvin Ridley, linebacker Jack Gibbens, linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. and long snapper Morgan Cox.
  • The starting offense for the Titans included quarterback Will Levis; running back Tony Pollard; wide receivers Calvin Ridley, Treylon Burks and Tyler Boyd; tight end Thomas Odukoya; left tackle JC Latham; left guard Peter Skoronski; center Lloyd Cushenberry III; right guard Dillon Radunz; and right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere. Latham (first round) was the only rookie offensive starter.
  • The starting defense included cornerbacks Roger McCreary and Jarvis Brownlee Jr.; safeties Amani Hooker and Elijah Molden; linebackers Jack Gibbens and Kenneth Murray Jr.; outside linebackers Arden Key and Jaylen Harrell; and defensive linemen Sebastian Joseph-Day, T'Vondre Sweat and Marlon Davidson. Three rookies started on defense: Sweat (second-round draft pick), Brownlee (fifth round) and Harrell (seventh round).
  • The Titans did not commit a penalty in the first half. For the game, three penalties were enforced against the Titans for 15 yards, while the 49ers had eight penalties for 48 yards.
  • The Titans outgained the 49ers 336 yards to 286 yards, including an edge in rushing yards of 138 to 67.
  • The Titans won the time-of-possession battle by controlling the ball for 35 minutes and 19 seconds, compared to the 49ers' 24 minutes and 41 seconds.
  • The Titans offense scored touchdowns on the unit's first two drives of the game. They went 15 yards on seven plays for their first touchdown and 64 yards on seven plays for their second score.
  • The offense was 52.9 percent on third down, converting nine times on 17 chances.
  • The preseason opener was the first occasion for the Titans to play with the NFL's new kickoff rules. On their first kickoff return, Kearis Jackson went for 63 yards to set up a Titans touchdown on the ensuing series.

WR TYLER BOYD

  • Started at wide receiver in his Titans preseason debut.

CB JARVIS BROWNLEE JR.

  • Started at cornerback in the first game of his rookie preseason.
  • Totaled two tackles and a pass defensed on defense and added a tackle on special teams.

WR TREYLON BURKS

  • Started and caught one pass for 12 yards.

LB CHANCE CAMPBELL

  • Led the defense with eight tackles, one sack and one interception, and he added a tackle on special teams.
  • In the second quarter, he sacked Brandon Allen for a 10-yard loss on third down to help end a 49ers drive.
  • He secured the Titans victory with an interception at the one-yard line on the final play of the game.

RB JULIUS CHESTNUT

  • Rushed for nine yards on five carries and added two receptions for 37 yards.
  • Tied for the team lead with 46 scrimmage yards.
  • Took a screen pass from Mason Rudolph on third-and-10 and turned it into a 36-yard gain in the second quarter.

DL KEONDRE COBURN

  • Recorded two tackles, a half sack and a forced fumble.
  • Credited with a forced fumble in the fourth quarter, resulting in the 49ers recovering the ball for a total loss of five yards.
  • Helped thwart a 49ers drive when he combined with Khalid Duke for a 15-yard sack of Joshua Dobbs on a fourth-down play in the fourth quarter.

C LLOYD CUSHENBERRY III

  • Started at center in his Titans preseason debut.

OLB JAYLEN HARRELL

  • Started at outside linebacker in his first preseason action as a rookie.

OLB KHALID DUKE

  • Helped end a 49ers drive when he combined with Keondre Coburn for a 15-yard sack of Joshua Dobbs on a fourth-down play in the fourth quarter.

RB HASSAN HASKINS

  • Finished third on the team with 27 rushing yards on eight attempts.

WR KEARIS JACKSON

  • Took the team's first kickoff return of the preseason 63 yards to help set up a touchdown in the first quarter. It was the longest Titans kickoff return in a preseason game since Akrum Wadley's 64-yarder at Green Bay on Aug. 9, 2018.
  • Added an 18-yard return to finish with two kickoff returns for 81 total yards.

WR JHA'QUAN JACKSON

  • Gained 26 yards on his first punt return of the preseason. It was the team's longest punt return in the preseason since Kyle Philips' 35-yarder against Tampa Bay on Aug. 20, 2022.
  • Added a six-yard reception.

DL SEBASTIAN JOSEPH-DAY

  • Started in his Titans preseason debut.

T JC LATHAM

  • Started at left tackle in his first preseason action as a rookie.

QB WILL LEVIS

  • Started and remained in the game through the offense's first two drives, resulting in a pair of touchdowns.
  • Completed four of five passes for 35 yards, amounting to a 95.8 passer rating. Additionally, he rushed for three yards on two attempts, including a touchdown.
  • Crossed the goal line on a one-yard quarterback sneak in the first quarter.
  • Completed a 22-yard pass to Calvin Ridley in the first quarter.

TE DAVID MARTIN-ROBINSON

  • Finished third on the team with 30 receiving yards on two catches in his rookie preseason debut.

LB KENNETH MURRAY JR.

  • Finished with two tackles and a quarterback hit in his Titans preseason debut.

K BRAYDEN NARVESON

  • Successful on a 34-yard field goal on the first attempt of his rookie preseason.

WR KYLE PHILIPS

  • Totaled 18 yards on a team-high three receptions.

RB TONY POLLARD

  • Started in his Titans preseason debut and rushed for 35 yards on four carries.
  • Added 11 yards on a pair of receptions to tie for the team lead with 46 scrimmage yards.
  • Rushed for a 24-yard gain in the first quarter to help set up a touchdown.

OLB SHANE RAY

  • Credited with a tackle for loss in the fourth quarter and also totaled a pair of quarterback hits in his first preseason action with the Titans.

LB OTIS REESE IV

  • Tied for second on the defense with four tackles, including a tackle for loss.

WR CALVIN RIDLEY

  • Started in his Titans preseason debut and caught a 22-yard pass from Will Levis in the first quarter.

QB MASON RUDOLPH

  • Made his Titans preseason debut. He entered the game in the second quarter and played into the third quarter.
  • Completed 10 of 17 passes for a team-high 126 yards for a passer rating of 82.0.
  • Tossed a screen pass to Julius Chestnut that resulted in a 36-yard gain to convert a third down in the second quarter.

RB TYJAE SPEARS

  • Carried the ball three times for a total of two yards, including a touchdown. He added a two-yard reception.
  • On the opening play of the second quarter, he scored his first touchdown of the preseason on a four-yard run.

DT T'VONDRE SWEAT

  • Started in his first preseason appearance as a rookie.

QB MALIK WILLIS

  • Entered the contest in the third quarter and finished the game. He completed five of seven passes for 38 yards (84.2 passer rating) and added a team-high 42 rushing yards on four attempts.
  • Rushed for a 28-yard gain in the third quarter.
