NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota has been sacked 35 times in 10 games, and as a result the team's offensive line has been scrutinized.

Right tackle Jack Conklin on Thursday said as a unit the o-line has to do a better job, and he included himself. On the season, Titans quarterbacks have been sacked 39 times.

Conklin, who us coming off ACL surgery, refused to make any excuses about his own play when asked about the scheme change, or his injury.

"I feel like I need to play better," Conklin said. "There is definitely stuff out there I'd like to have back, and it's something I have to keep adjusting to and keep getting better and do a better job. We are a good o-line, and we have to show that on Sundays.

"We are a tough group, and we have been together now for three years. We are going to battle through this and we are going to come out fighting and get this run game going and the protection is going to be much better."

Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur complimented Conklin after todays' practice.

"I think Jack has done a nice job," LaFleur said. "I think he's done a lot of nice things for us, and certainly we are lucky to have a guy like that, who cares about his teammates, who works his butt off every day. I think Jack is going to continue to get better as we progress throughout the season."

Familiar Faces

A pair of former Titans will return to Nissan Stadium on Sunday when the Jets visit town – linebacker Avery Williamson and receiver Rishard Matthews.

Williamson, a 2014 draft pick who played from 2014-17 in Tennessee, leads the Jets with 117 tackles. Rishard Matthews, who spent two full seasons and part of this year with the team, doesn't have a catch in three games since being signed by the Jets. He was inactive last week.

"He has already started talking trash to me," Titans linebacker Wesley Woodyard said of Williamson. "I have to get him some tickets –his family is going to be there. It is good – that is my brother, man. … He has been having a pretty good season, so it is always good to have a chance to compete against him now and have more tackles and have more big plays because that is what we have been talking about all week."
