NASHVILLE – As a youngster growing up in Nashville, Ugo Amadi looked up to some Titans greats.
"Back then they had Chris Johnson," Amadi said on Thursday. "They had Smash and Dash (with Johnson and LenDale White). RIP Steve McNair, Eddie George, Keith Bulluck. The Titans had some legends, and I was even able to play (at Nissan Stadium) when I was in little league, at six years old.
"A lot of memories here in the city for sure."
Now, Amadi is ready to make some more.
On Wednesday, the Titans traded for the versatile defensive back, who grew up in Nashville and prepped at John Overton High School.
On Thursday, Amadi practiced with the team for the first time, decked out in No. 38.
"I couldn't believe it," Amadi said of the trade. "It all happened so fast.
"When it happened, I was already on the flight to Tennessee, so when I landed (my phone) was like bzzzz, bzzzzz (with texts and voice mails). It's crazy, a lot of: 'You're home! You're home! You're home!' It's dope."
Amadi, drafted by the Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Oregon, recorded 125 tackles, six tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during the past three seasons in Seattle while playing in 47 regular season games, with 12 starts.
Known for his versatility, the 5-foot-9, 201-pouder was used as a nickel cornerback and also at safety during his time in Seattle, in addition to playing 580 snaps on special teams snaps. Amadi spent a good amount of his time in Seattle in the slot.
Amadi was just traded from the Seahawks to the Eagles earlier this month, so it's been quite a month.
Now Amadi is back in Tennessee, and he hopes to help his hometown team.
"My style of play, my versatility, being able to play multiple positions. You need guys that can cover and hit," Amadi said. "I am very blessed and very grateful.
"(The Titans) want me to play nickel, and we'll see where it goes from there. I have experience with that, and I'm just going to be myself, play my role, play my game."
