NASHVILLE – Titans head coach Brian Callahan talked to reporters on Monday, one day after the team's 34-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Here's a look at the hot topics from the presser as the team turns its attention to Sunday's game at the Detroit Lions.
-The Titans plan to return to Will Levis as the team's starting quarterback.
It's just a matter of when, Callahan said.
"The minute he is back healthy, the intent is for him to continue to play," Callahan said of Levis. "Hopefully that is sooner rather than later, because I'd like to continue to have him playing football. But I'm not going to let him go out there if he's not where he needs to be to go perform.
"Maybe this week, maybe next week, but sooner or later he'll be back playing."
Mason Rudolph started in place of Levis on Sunday against the Bills.
Callahan said it will be a combination of him seeing Levis is physically able to perform, and Levis feeling better as well.
"It just needs rest," Callahan said of the shoulder, "and hopefully not throwing for a handful of days here is helpful, and we'll see what it's like Wednesday. If he needs another week of rest, he needs another week of rest.
"But the intent is to get him back healthy and get back rolling with him."
-Receiver DeAndre Hopkins didn't finish the game on Sunday because he was dealing with some lower leg soreness, Callahan said.
-Jaelyn Duncan, who started Sunday's game at right tackle, will miss this week's game with a hamstring injury, and he's now "week to week."
-Running back Tyjae Spears could potentially return to this week's game after missing the Buffalo game with a hamstring injury, Callahan said.
-Callahan said the team will continue to look at options at right tackle.
"We have John Ojukwu on the (practice squad), too," Callahan said. "We are going to let those guys (compete), and we are going to find something better than what we've had so far. At the end of the day, we have to find some sort of solution to it and guys will get opportunities to do so. Leroy (Watson) will get another opportunity to fight for it.
"We have guys on the roster who have to fight, and if there's somewhere else, we have to go outside of it, we'll go outside of it. That's the unfortunate part of where we're at there, and we need to find a solution at some point."
-Callahan was asked about his decision to go for it on 4th and 2 at the team's 44-yard line on Sunday.
Running back Tony Pollard was stuffed on the play for a three-yard loss, and the Bills scored a touchdown six plays later en route to outscoring the Titans 27-0 in the second half.
Callahan said he thought the Titans were in a good spot to have success on the play – they went heavy with personnel, while the Bills stayed in their nickel package – but the play didn't work.
"I made the decision to go, because I was trying to see if we could capture some momentum on that first drive," Callahan said. "We didn't execute the play well. … If we blocked it right, we would have had a chance."
