NASHVILLE – Titans coach Brian Callahan spoke to reporters before Wednesday's practice.
The team is scheduled to practice from 1:05 p.m.-2:35 p.m. today to prepare for Sunday's game vs the New England Patriots.
Some real quick highlights on what Callahan, aka "Cally", said before I head to practice:
-Callahan said the plan is for quarterback Will Levis to be on the practice field today.
The Titans will monitor Levis, who has missed the past two games while recovering from his right shoulder injury, during the week.
"We'll try to get a feel for where he's at after some rest, see how he feels throwing the ball, see how it looks," Callahan said. "The more important part for Will right now is going to be not just today, but Thursday, Friday, days consecutive, throwing to see how that goes.
"If he's feeling good and feeling up to it, we'll ramp (his throwing) up and see where he's at."
-Callahan said he doesn't expect cornerback L'Jarius Sneed to practice today.
"He's probably still week-to-week," Callahan said. "We'll see as the week progresses. Hopefully he's getting closer."
-Callahan said he expects running back Tyjae Spears to return to action this Sunday after missing time with hamstring injury.
"Tyjae should be good to go this week," Callahan said. "I expect him to have a good chance to play."
-Callahan praised receiver Calvin Ridley for his work leading up to this past Sunday's game, when he caught 10 passes for 143 yards against the Lions.
Callahan, in fact, said he looked out his office window and saw Ridley on the JUGS machine at 7 a.m. last Tuesday. He took a video of it, and showed it to the team, using Ridley as an example of a guy putting extra work in.
"I commend him for finding a way to get better," Callahan said. "It paid off with a big game."
-The Patriots are next up for the Titans.
New England is 2-6 on the season, ranked 32nd in the league on offense, and 23rd on defense.
"They are a team that's a proud organization, too, and they're fighting to try and make some wins happen," Callahan said. "They are tough. Everything about them on their defense, their DNA, is New England. … They're a team that is also hungry. They are fighting just like we are to put themselves in position."
