Biography
PRO: The Titans selected Roger McCreary in the second round (35th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11-inch, 190-pounder is a physical, athletic cornerback that is known for always being around the ball. McCreary has been a mainstay in the Titans defensive backfield during his first two NFL campaigns, having played in 32 games with 28 starts while collecting a team-best 170 tackles to go along with two interceptions, two sacks and 14 passes defensed. The Mobile, Ala., native was a two-year starter at Auburn and notched an impressive 22 passes defensed, including four interceptions, during his final two collegiate campaigns.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• In 2023, McCreary ranked third on the team with 86 tackles while posting two sacks, an interception, four quarterback pressures, seven stops for loss, six passes defensed and a forced fumble.
• In 2022, McCreary was one of only three rookie cornerbacks in the NFL to start all 17 games. He finished third on the team with 85 tackles, and ranked second on the squad with eight passes defensed, which included an interception.
TITANS TIDBITS:
• McCreary's pregame ritual in college was eating two plates of baked beans with sugar the night before a game. The tradition started when he got to Auburn and he says Bush's baked beans are his favorite.
• McCreary enjoys singing in his free time.
• His uncle, Angelo James, was a defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Mobile, Ala., native was selected by the Titans in the second round (35th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE:
• During four seasons at Auburn, McCreary appeared in 43 games with 23 starts and posted 135 tackles, six interceptions, 35 passes defensed, 10 stops for loss, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
• As a senior (2021), started 12 games at cornerback and collected 49 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, two stops for loss and a team-best 16 passes defensed. Named a first-team All-America by The Athletic, Associated Press, ESPN and Reese's Senior Bowl. Was a Bednarik Award semifinalist.
• As a junior (2020), started 10 games at cornerback and amassed 45 tackles, three interceptions, seven stops for loss, six passes defensed and a forced fumble. Named SEC Academic Honor Roll.
• As a sophomore (2019), played in 13 games with a start at cornerback and posted 36 tackles, an interception, 12 passes defensed, a stop for loss and a fumble recovery.
• As a true freshman (2018), saw action in seven games and registered five tackles and a pass defensed.
• Graduated with a degree in interdisciplinary studies in August 2021 from Auburn.
PERSONAL:
• Attended Williamson (Mobile, Ala.) High School.
• As a senior (2017), named first-team Class 5A All-State after collecting eight interceptions and more than 100 tackles. Also had more than 2,100 offensive yards and was named Optimist Club Player of the Year.
• Also participated in track and field, basketball and baseball.
• Enjoys bowling and playing golf.
• Has two dogs – Trouble (Boxer) and Ash (Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix).
