PRO: The Titans signed Matthew Wright to the team's practice squad late in the 2024 season as a backup option for Nick Folk. The 5-foot-11-inch, 174-pounder originally entered the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a rookie free agent in 2019. Prior to his arrival in Tennessee, Wright appeared in 27 career games and connected on 51 of 59 field goals and 40 of 42 extra point attempts. The Central Florida product has spent time with Steelers (2020, 2022), Jaguars (2021), Chiefs (2022, 2024), Panthers (2023) and 49ers (2024).
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Wright ended the Jacksonville Jaguars' 20-game losing streak when he made two fourth quarter field goals to defeat the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 17, 2021. He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts.
• On Nov. 29, 2024, Wright went four for four on field goal attempts, including the game-winning 31-yard field goal as time expired against the L.A. Chargers to help the Chiefs clinch the AFC West. The game-winning 31-yard field goal hit the left upright before going in, which caused many to title it "A Doink for the Division." Wright was awarded his second AFC Special Teams Player of the Week because of his performance.
