Gervarrius Owens

PRO: The Titans signed Gervarrius Owens to the team's practice squad during the 2024 season to add depth to the defensive backs room and special teams units. Owens has seen action in three games since arriving in the NFL, all with the Giants on special teams in 2023. The 6-foot, 200-pounder appeared in 46 games with 41 starts over four seasons at Houston (2019-22) totaling 195 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 21 passes defensed, and two blocked kicks.

TITANS TIDBITS:
• Owens was a three-sport athlete in high school, lettering in track and wrestling as well as football. Along with safety, he was a threat on offense as a wide receiver, averaging 27.1 yards per reception and scoring seven touchdowns as a junior.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Moore, Okla., native was drafted by the Giants in the seventh-round (254th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
• Released by the Giants on Aug. 23, 2024 and signed to the team's practice squad two days later.
• Released from the Giants practice squad on Oct. 29, 2024.
• Signed to the Titans practice squad on Nov. 5, 2024.

COLLEGE:
• Appeared in 46 games with 41 starts over four seasons at Houston (2019-22). Recorded 195 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, four interceptions, 21 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks. Transferred to Houston in 2019 from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where he led the team in tackles while recording three interceptions in 2018.
• As a senior (2022), started 12 games at free safety and finished second on the team with 74 tackles and eight passes defensed. Also forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble and nabbed two interceptions. Was named second-team All-American Athletic Conference.
• As a junior (2021), played in 14 games and started 13 games and registered 52 tackles and two interceptions. Named first-team All-American Athletic Conference and First Team Dave Campbell All-State.
• As a junior (2020), played in all eight games and made five starts. Posted 28 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two passes defensed.
• As a sophomore (2019), appeared in 12 games with 11 starts, seeing time at both cornerback and safety. Ranked fourth on the team with 54 tackles and tied second nationally with two blocked punts. Also nabbed an interception, five pass breakups and a half a sack.
• Transferred to Houston in 2019 from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
• As a freshman (2018), he was named JUCO All-American First Team after recording 51 tackles, three interceptions and three passes defensed in 2018.
• Graduated from Houston in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in sociology.

PERSONAL:
• Attended Southmoore (Moore, Okla.) High School where he was a four-year letterwinner at safety and wide receiver.
