NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Training camp kicks off on Thursday for the Titans.
Here's a look at some questions – and answers – to let fans know what to expect.
Where will fans watch practices?
The setup around the practice fields is the same as last season. Eight sets of temporary bleachers have been constructed around the fields for better sight lines at Saint Thomas Sports Park. Several of the bleachers have awnings to provide shade for fans.
In past years, fans stood along the fence lines. This year, like last year's training camp, standing along the sideline fence will be discouraged in order to ease traffic flow for fans. There will be ample space in the bleachers to provide seating opportunity for all guests.
Two misting areas will be available for fans to cool down.
What about autographs?
Get your Sharpies ready.
The number of players made available each day will be roughly 15-20 per day, and each day will include several recognizable players.
The autograph area will be near the offensive line and defensive line work area on the south end of the practice fields, to the right of the big set of bleachers by the water. Flags will designate the area and help direct fans to the location.
The list of players signing each day won't be released ahead of time, but each player will be scheduled to sign at least once during training camp.
What are some other things fans should know before coming?
To enter the grounds, fans must pass through a metal detector, and the same clear bag policy used at Nissan Stadium applies at training camp. Basically, no bags larger than your hand, unless it is a clear bag. Same as the Nissan Stadium policy. Other items not allowed include food and beverage, tobacco products, coolers, liquids, umbrellas, chairs and strollers. Empty water bottles are allowed and can be filled at the free water station. Restroom trailers will be available on site. Also, the Titans are partnering with Second Harvest for the Saturday and Sunday practices and are encouraging fans to bring canned goods when they come to practice.
Will I need tickets?
No. All the practices are free and open to the public, but there is a maximum capacity.
What about merchandise?
The Titans Locker Room will be on-site and open before, during and after all practices, selling a variety of Titans goods and apparel. The merchandise tent is located at the entrance to the practice field.
What's the deal on parking?
Fans attending training camp may park directly across the street from Saint Thomas Sports Park at 445 Great Circle Road. Once those spaces are filled, fans are directed to Ted Rhodes Park Multipurpose Fields at 720 Mainstream Drive, where a complimentary shuttle runs continuously to and from practice. Parking on the property of other area businesses could result in the vehicle being towed.
So what's the "Friday Night Lights" practice all about?
For the second year in a row, the Titans will practice at Centennial High School in Franklin. The practice will be on Friday, August 3rd from 7:15-9:00 pm. The Titans will practice at Nissan Stadium the following day.
Where is Saint Thomas Sports Park?
From Interstate 65 in downtown Nashville, take Exit 85 (Rosa Parks Boulevard) North. Proceed on Rosa Parks Boulevard and turn right on Athens Way. Turn left on Great Circle Road. Security officials will direct fans to the parking lot on the right and assist crossing the street into Saint Thomas Sports Park.
What happens if storms are in the area?
For the safety of fans, players, media and staff members, practice will be postponed, canceled or moved indoors if stormy weather threatens Saint Thomas Sports Park. For safety reasons, fans will not be allowed to wait at the practice field and will be asked to return to their vehicles. In some cases, practice also could be moved indoors due to extreme heat. All indoor ("bubble") practices are closed to the general public.
So, how many practices are open to the public?
This year's schedule includes 15 open practices, including two morning practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 15-16.
The Titans will kick off training camp on Thursday at 9:50 a.m., the first of five straight days open to fans.
