NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans are proud to announce Week 8 nominees for the Titans High School Coach of the Week honors!
The nominees are Jared Huskins of Unicoi County High School, Terry Anderson of Nashville's John Overton High School, Bart Stowe of Dyersburg High School and Steve Hoofkin of Liberty Tech Magnet High School in Jackson.
Each coach was nominated by sports media throughout the state of Tennessee on the basis of specific criteria that include: beating a longtime rival, snapping a losing streak, defeating a defending champion, recording an amazing come from behind victory and/or involvement in the local community.
Also considered is a coach's commitment to his players' safety by teaching the fundamentals of the game, proper tackling techniques, concussion management practices and adherence to heat and hydration guidelines.
Week 8 voting is open until 9 a.m. ET/8 a.m. CT Thursday, Oct. 24. VOTE here.
The 10 weekly winners of the Coach of the Week will each receive a $1,000 grant from the Tennessee Titans Foundation for their football programs to be used to provide funds for equipment, turf treatment or upgrades to their field houses.
At the conclusion of the Tennessee state playoffs, a Titans High School Coach of the Year will be selected, and that winner will receive a $2,000 grant from the Titans Foundation for his school's football program!
The Titans began honoring Tennessee's High School Coaches in 1998 and since that time, have awarded $168,000 in grants to support high school football programs throughout Tennessee via this program!

Jared Huskins, Unicoi County High School:Coach Huskins' Blue Devils defeated rival Happy Valley Warriors 33-30 with a late TD, converting three fourth-down conversions in the game-winning drive. Coach Huskins has kept the Blue Devils together despite massive injuries, including a total of 10 broken bones to stay in the playoff picture.
Terry Anderson, John Overton High School:Coach Anderson's Overton Bobcats defeated the Hillwood Hilltoppers 42-7. The Bobcats are on the best start in years at 8-0 and currently ranked in the top 10 in Class 6A.
Bart Stowe, Dyersburg High School:Coach Stowe's Dyersburg Trojans defeated the Milan Bulldogs 41-3. The win gave the Trojans their first District 13-AA championship since 2005. The win also assured Dyersburg a home playoff game.
Steve Hoofkin, Liberty Tech Magnet High School:Coach Hoofkin's Liberty Tech Crusaders defeated the Jackson North Side Indians 27-21. The Crusaders overcame an early 14-0 deficit to finally defeat an Indians team they had not beaten in the previous four contests.
The winner of the Coach of the Week grant will receive a $1,000 grant to help a deserving school provide funds for equipment, turf treatment or upgrades to their field house!
