NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Only in Nashville could a pair of NFL players leave practice and end up singing on stage with a country music star roughly 30 minutes later.
That's exactly what Titans kicker Ryan Succop and center Ben Jones did earlier this week when they joined Darius Rucker behind microphones at Legends Corner on Broadway.
Rucker was in town promoting his new album.

"Now that was pretty cool," Jones said. "Being on stage, and being able to sing with a country music star like Darius Rucker, it's something I'll never forget."
Succop and Jones sang along as Rucker took the lead on his hit song, "Wagon Wheel." Also in the three-song, mini-concert was Hank Williams Jr's "Family Tradition." The gathering was a surprise to those on hand at Legends Corner. They were there watching another performer when Rucker showed up.
The players shared the moment on their Instagram pages.
"That's the first time I've been on a stage singing, period,'' Succop said with a smile. "And to get on stage with one of my favorites -- I loved Hootie & the Blowfish back in the day and I've always been a big Darius fan."
Succop and Rucker go way back. Both went to school at the University of South Carolina, and they've played golf together in the past, in addition to spending time together at charity events.
No word on what Rucker thought of his Titans sidekicks.
"I didn't ask him because I didn't want him to have to lie to me," Succop said with a smile. "All I know is we had a good time. It was pretty neat."
Jones did get some feedback.
"My mother told me I need to stick to football," Jones said. "But that's why I kind of stayed away from the mic and sang to the crowd. I was more of a crowd pleaser, and let Succop do the singing into the mic.
"But the crowd, they loved Darius. He hadn't played on Broadway in 10 years, so it was a big deal."
