NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It's early for the bye week, and it's also way too early for any awards.
But since the NFL handed the Titans an early bye, I'm going to name my top three performers three games into the 2015 season.
The three top performers on offense, defense, and special teams so far:
**
Offense – QB Marcus Mariota**
OK, so this is a no-brainer. Mariota has been the team's best player three games in. He's thrown for 833 yards and eight touchdowns, and he's given fans – and teammates – a reason to believe the team always has a chance on Sundays. Mariota should only get better in time, which should make the final 13 games of the season fun to watch.
Defense – OLB Derrick Morgan
Three games, and three sacks for Morgan, who signed a new long-term deal with the Titans in March. Morgan has been a factor each game. In addition to leading the team in sacks, Morgan is also fourth on the team with 15 tackles and he's second on the team with three tackles for a loss. He also forced a fumble at Cleveland.
Special teams – Punter Brett Kern
Kern has probably spoiled fans with his consistency. He's averaging 46.6 yards per punt, with a 35.2 net. He's already put four punts down inside the 20, and has a long of 57. Kern is just off his franchise record for gross average (46.8 last year). Kicker Ryan Succop has been perfect on field goals, but he's attempted just two so far.
