NASHVILLE – The Titans have selected five captains for the 2024 season.
Coach Brian Callahan made the news public on Wednesday at a Titans Foundation event at Nissan Stadium, after tallying the votes from players.
Callahan informed the players of the news at Wednesday's event, in surprise fashion.
The five players elected:
-Quarterback Will Levis
-Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons
-Center Lloyd Cushenberry
-Linebacker Kenneth Murray
-Long snapper Morgan Cox
-Levis was a second-round pick of the Titans in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's the team's starting quarterback. He's displayed maturity, and leadership, in his second season with the team.
-Simmons was previously voted a captain in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and he's one of the unquestioned leaders of the defense.
-Cushenberry, signed with the Titans this offseason after spending the previous four seasons with the Broncos, has started 57 games since entering the NFL in 2020. He'll anchor the o-line this fall.
-Murray, signed with the Titans after spending the previous four seasons with the Chargers, has played in 59 career games, with 53 starts. He's fit in nicely in Tennessee.
-Cox, in his 15th NFL season, and his fourth with the Titans, was also elected a captain in 2023. He's a five-time Pro Bowler who was on a Super Bowl-winning team with the Ravens in 2012. Cox is a Collierville, Tenn., native who played at the University of Tennessee.
