NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Downtown Nashville will be extremely busy traffic wise Thursday afternoon and evening as football fans head to LP Field for the Titans-Steelers game and music lovers travel to Public Square Park for the final Live on the Green performance of 2012.
Downtown workers making the commute home Thursday will get to their destinations quicker by avoiding the congestion around LP Field and the Historic Courthouse.
In preparation for the Titans game, the Woodland Street Bridge will close to regular traffic at 4:30 p.m. and then be available only to pedestrians and shuttle buses. Fans who normally park in state employee lots will not have access to those spaces Thursday evening until 5 p.m., when they are vacated by state workers.
Additional downtown-area parking information can be found by logging onto http://www.parkitdowntown.com.
Gates to LP Field open at 5 p.m. Stadium parking lots will be open at 3 p.m. to fans with parking passes. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. Those without parking passes are encouraged to seek available parking downtown or ride a shuttle bus.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
InShuttle will provide park and ride bus service for this game from the state parking lots at 4th Avenue North & Harrison Street and from 10th Circle North downtown (off Charlotte across from TSU's downtown campus) beginning at 5:45 p.m. Shuttle service will also be available from Greer Stadium's parking lots south of the city beginning at 5:45 p.m.
KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL BRIDGE
The Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (Gateway Bridge), which connects East Nashville to 4th Avenue North, will be open to eastbound and westbound traffic until the beginning of the 4th quarter each game this season (Public Works crews begin to set the streets for mass egress at the beginning of the 4th quarter). However, there will be no access to the LP Field campus to eastbound traffic coming across the bridge from the downtown area in the three-hour period before each game (eastbound vehicles coming across the bridge will not be allowed to turn left onto the LP Field campus).
At the beginning of the fourth quarter of each game this year, all lanes of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (Gateway Bridge) will be open to westbound traffic only, which should more quickly disperse congestion around LP Field.
LIVE ON THE GREEN
Thursday evening's Live on the Green concert is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will feature the groups The Delta Saints, Yacht Rock Revue and Here Come the Mummies. Concert goers and football fans should be mindful that each will be seeking downtown parking. PLAN NOW TO ARRIVE EARLY.
