NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are sticking to defense as they start the final day of the NFL Draft, and they have picked Miami linebacker Colin McCarthy with the 109th pick overall.
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound McCarthy played in 49 games at Miami. He had 302 career tackles with four sacks and 34 1/2 tackles for loss.
The Titans want to get better at linebacker with new coordinator Jerry Gray. McCarthy could fit at middle linebacker. Stephen Tulloch has had that job, but the five-year veteran hopes to test free agency whenever it starts.
McCarthy led Miami and ranked third in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a career-high 120 tackles with one sack. He also caused and recovered a fumble and had an interception.
