TITANS STATEMENT ABOUT CURLEY CULP
|
"This is a great day for Curley Culp and a great day for the Oilers/Titans organization. We are happy that after all of these years, his contributions to the game are being recognized.
During the 1974 season, the coaches wanted to move to the 3-4 defense and Culp was a proven NFL player that would help make that transformation successful. A trade with Kansas City in October of that year made it a reality. The defense took off with the new defensive scheme and he became a backbone during the Luv Ya Blue years, anchoring a dominant defensive line for the next six years. Culp went to four Pro Bowls as an Oiler and the combination of Culp and fellow Hall of Famer Elvin Bethea were a dynamic duo. Congratulations to Curley and his family on a long overdue honor."
