NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans have deactivated starting defensive end William Hayes after he aggravated the right knee he sprained during training camp. Oakland running back Michael Bush also won't play in Sunday's season opener.
Bush broke his left thumb and had practiced some after having two thumbs inserted surgically. The Raiders' leading rusher last season had been listed as questionable, but Darren McFadden now is expected to get more carries.
Jason Babin, signed this offseason, will start for Hayes. The Titans also deactivated receiver Lavelle Hawkins, leaving rookies Damian Williams and Marc Mariani active because both can return punts and kickoffs.
Oakland also deactivated defensive tackle Desmond Bryant with an elbow injury.
