NASHVILLE, TENN. – The Tennessee Titans have signed free agent running back Samkon Gado.
Gado has appeared in 41 career games with eight starts in parts of five NFL seasons. A native of Nigeria, Gado has carried the ball 268 times for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns for four different teams in his career.
The 5-foot-10-inch, 226-pounder enjoyed his most successful season as a rookie with the Green Bay Packers in 2005, when he appeared in eight games and rushed for a career-best 582 yards and six touchdowns.
In 2006, he appeared in one game with the Packers before being traded to the Houston Texans in exchange for running back Vernand Morency. Gado appeared in 11 games for the Texans in parts of two seasons (2006-07) before being claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 30, 2008.
The former Liberty product saw action in five games with two starts for the Dolphins and rushed 35 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns.
He spent parts of the past two seasons with the St. Louis Rams. Last season, Gado saw action in 15 games primarily on special teams and collected six tackles for St. Louis.
To make room on the roster, the team waived injured rookie free agent running back Stafon Johnson.
