NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Working in sports can be almost as competitive as playing sports. So if you're wondering how to launch your career in the sports industry, the Tennessee Titans are here to help. The club will host a career fair June 6 at LP Field that will give attendees an inside look at what it takes to work in the business.
"We really want to just show them how to break into the sports world," Titans Ticket Sales Manager Josh Ward said. "It's an opportunity to get in front of these organizations, present yourself, drop off your resume and learn from the pros."
The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a 30-minute Q&A session hosted by Titans Communications Coordinator Amie Wells. Here, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of four sports executives about how they got their jobs and which qualities they look for in potential new hires.
After the panel, participants will have the opportunity to meet and drop off resumes with 20-25 sports organizations, colleges and professional teams. The event wraps up at 1 p.m.
"As a hiring manager, it speaks well about an employee if they're willing to take some initiative and get in front of people instead of only sending in a resume electronically," Ward said.
The fair is open to college students, recent graduates or those who have an interest in any aspect of the industry from marketing and public relations to scouting and coaching.
"It's for anyone who's interested in getting into the sports world on really any level," Ward said. "They can connect with teams and start building some relationships."
Although the Titans have participated in multiple career fairs, this will be the first of its kind hosted by the team. But Ward says he hopes to turn this networking opportunity into an annual event.
"It's a great way to connect," he said. "In fact, I hired three of our seasonal sales associates after meeting them at a Nashville Predators career fair."
The $36 registration fee includes a ticket to the Titans' October 11 game against the Buffalo Bills in addition to a behind-the-scenes tour of LP Field. Dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes.
