Titans Set to Face Packers QB Aaron Rodgers on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are coming to town on Sunday, and the Titans know exactly what they'll be faced with.

Rodgers is a five-time Pro Bowler and a two-time league MVP. He has thrown for 2,039 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season, and for nearly 35,000 yards in his 12-year career.

"The biggest thing is he's a mobile quarterback who has a great arm, and great feet,'' Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey said. "He knows how to really operate in the pocket. He is a guy who knows how to dodge a sack if he needs to, he can run and get the first down if he needs to.

"So it is going to be real for us to keep him in the pocket and make sure stay on our rush lanes against him."

Rodgers has scored every one of Green Bay's touchdowns this season. In addition to the 20 touchdown passes, he also has two rushing touchdowns.

He has some talented weapons around him.

Receiver Davante Adams leads the Packers with 44 catches for 465 yards and six touchdowns. But Green Bay receivers Randall Cobb (41-401-3) and Jordy Nelson (38-509-7) are also having big years.

Rodgers threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns the last time the Titans faced the Packers, in 2012.

"Pretty challenging, yeah,'' Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. "They have some weapons there that he's played with for a long time. They want to throw the football. They're averaging 40 passes a game. That's how they want to attack you, and they've got the people to do it."

Titans safety Kevin Byard was at MTSU the last time the Titans faced the Packers, and Rodgers.

The plan this week, he said, is for the Titans to get back on track after a 43-35 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.

He knows what the defense will be up against.

"He is one of the best quarterbacks of our time, and definitely my time,'' Byard said of Rodgers. "He is one of those guys who has thrown countless Hail Marys, fourth quarter comebacks.

"…As a defense we have to keep improving. We are not a terrible defense all of a sudden because we had one bad game. We are still a good defense and we just have to correct things and keep getting better."
