After dropping their first three games by a total of 13 points, including last week's seven-point defeat against the New York Jets, the Titans look to claim their first win of the season against a team that is coming off their initial victory. The Jaguars traveled to Houston last week and beat the Texans by a score of 31-24.
The AFC South standings show the Titans in last place, with the first-place Colts at 3-0 ahead of the Titans, Jaguars and 1-2 Texans. After visiting Jacksonville, the Titans return home to prepare for a nationally-televised Sunday night matchup with the Colts at LP Field.
THE BROADCAST
The game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Dick Enberg will handle play-by-play duties, while Dan Fouts will provide color commentary.
The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 103.3-WKDF, will broadcast the game across the Mid-South with the "Voice of the Titans" Mike Keith, color commentator Frank Wycheck, sideline reporter Cody Allison and gameday host Larry Stone.
LAST WEEK
The Titans came back from an early 14-point deficit against the Jets to take a 17-14 lead in the third quarter. However, four turnovers, including two interceptions and two fumbles on special teams, were too untimely to overcome.
Chris Johnson rushed for 97 yards in the game, giving him a total of 351 yards on the ground in 2009. His total ranks first in the AFC and is only six yards short of NFL leader Adrian Peterson (357) of the Minnesota Vikings.
Defensively, the Titans limited the Jets to 25 percent on third down (4-16). They also posted three sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception by safety Chris Hope, his first of the season.
THE JAGUARS
After losing to the Colts and Arizona Cardinals to begin the season, the Jaguars bounced back with a 398-yard performance against the Texans. They were led by running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who accounted for 119 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries, the longest of which was a 61-yard touchdown. Quarterback David Garrard also ran for a touchdown.
The Jaguars are attempting to rebound from a 5-11 campaign in 2008. Jack Del Rio, the division's second-longest tenured head coach, is in his seventh season at the helm.
The Titans have played the Jaguars at least twice every year since 1995 and lead the series 17-12. They won both games during the 2008 season, the first a 17-10 win at LP Field (Sept. 7) and the second a 24-14 victory in Jacksonville (Nov. 16).
