NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have informed backup quarterback Alex Tanney this morning he's being released.
The Titans will also release running back Khalfani Muhammad and defensive lineman Johnny Maxey.
Tanney has spent time parts of three seasons with the Titans, beginning with the 2014 season. He was with the Titans for the entire 2016 campaign, predominantly on the practice squad. He appeared in one contest in 2015, completing 10-of-14 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Tanney spent last season on Injured Reserve. He'd been working with the team during the offseason program.
Over the weekend, the Titans drafted former Washington State quarterback Luke Falk in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
The Titans now have quarterbacks Marcus Mariota, Blaine Gabbert, Falk and Tyler Ferguson on the roster.
Muhammad, a seventh round draft pick by the Titans last season, spent the first 15 weeks of last season on the team's practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster late in the season, but did not appear in a game.
Maxey was signed to the practice squad late last season, and he signed a futures contract with the team in January.
