NASHVILLE – A season after capturing the franchise's second straight AFC South title and the conference's No.1 seed, the Titans have been rewarded with four primetime contests.
Earlier on Thursday, the NFL announced the Titans will kick off the 2022 season on September 11 against the New York Giants at Nissan Stadium. The game is scheduled for 3:25 CST on FOX.
This followed news from earlier in the week about the team traveling to Buffalo to face the Bills in Week 2 on Monday Night Football on ESPN.
On Thursday night, the entire 2022 schedule was released by the Titans, including the team's three preseason contests.
The Titans are set to host the Dallas Cowboys at Nissan Stadium on Thursday Night Football on December 29 at 7:15 p.m. on Prime Video.
In addition to the prime-time game against the Bills, the Titans are also scheduled to play at Kansas City on November 6 on Sunday Night Football on NBC and at Green Bay on November 17 on Thursday Night Football on Prime Video.
(For the Titans two Thursday night games, the game will be available on Amazon Prime and additionally those games will be available on an over-the-air station in the Nashville market).
Those are among the highlights on the schedule, which includes seven games against teams that went to the playoffs in 2021, including five division champs.
The Titans will play three of their first five games on the road before a bye week in Week 6.
Other interesting parts of the schedule:
-The Titans will face the Colts and quarterback Matt Ryan twice in October (at Indianapolis in Week 4, in Nissan Stadium in Week 7) and the Jaguars twice in December (in Nissan Stadium in Week 14, at Jacksonville in Week 18).
-Former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will face the Titans for the first time as a member of Broncos on November 13 at Nissan Stadium.
-The Bengals will visit Nissan Stadium on November 27 in a rematch of the AFC Divisional Playoff contest from last season.
-The Titans will return to Los Angeles, this time to face the Chargers, on Sunday, December 18.
-The Titans will face four of the NFL's top five offenses from last season: Dallas (1st overall offense), Kansas City (3rd overall offense, the Los Angeles Chargers (4th overall offense) and Buffalo (5th overall offense). They also will see the top overall defense from 2021 in the Bills.
-The Titans' strength of schedule is the 24th most difficult in the NFL based upon their opponents' combined 2021 winning percentage of .471 (136-153).
This season, "flexible scheduling" for Sunday night may be used twice between Weeks 5-10, and during Weeks 11-15 and Week 17. In weeks of the season eligible for "flexible scheduling," the games listed for the Sunday night window are tentative and subject to change. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to a Sunday afternoon.
Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday or Monday nights.
In the preseason, the Titans will once again play three games in 2021. The Titans will play at the Baltimore Ravens in Week One of the preseason before hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals at Nissan Stadium.
