NASHVILLE, Tenn. – **The Tennessee Titans recognize the ongoing flood relief efforts of two Nashville charities, United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and Hands on Nashville, as part of the NFL's "Hometown Huddle" league-wide effort on October 19th.

Today, teams across the league are celebrating Hometown Huddle, which is an NFL-wide day of service that provides NFL players, coaches, wives, and staff from each team the opportunity to participate in a variety of community-service activities, including building homes for low-income families, working with the elderly, building playgrounds, serving food to the homeless, visiting local military bases and funding after-school programs for underserved children. Started in 1999 by the NFL and United Way, Hometown Huddle continues to help make a difference in local NFL communities.

According to the Mayor's Office, five months following the flood of May 2-3, a local network of more than 60 organizations continues working to advocate for and provide direct assistance to numerous residents still trying to rebuild and recover. United Way of Metropolitan Nashville's Restore the Dream Centers and Hands on Nashville have both been diligent in that assistance for many Nashvillians who are still in need.  Both organizations will receive a $2,500 donation on behalf of the Tennessee Titans to fund continued cleanup efforts.

This past May, Titans owner, K.S. "Bud" Adams, Jr. felt compelled to assist the residents of Nashville.  First, he donated $400,000, along with the NFL/NFLPA, to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and the Red Cross to help residents as they recovered from the historic flood.  Then he supported and encouraged Coach Fisher and the entire organization to spend the day in the community and the team's response was overwhelming with the majority of the organization showing up to help.  Hands on Nashville staff helped to identify neighborhoods in need located just a few miles from the Titans practice facility.  With an estimated 80 people, consisting of players, coaches and staff, they rolled up their sleeves, spent time cleaning up homes and talking with residents in the flood ravaged area.  The Titans tore out drywall, sheet rock, moved appliances and ripped out flooring from at least a dozen homes -- consoling many who lost everything.

The Titans want their fans to know that while much of the need has been met for flood victims, there is still much to do.  United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, Hands on Nashville and the Mayor's Office of Flood Recovery all have going efforts that Titans fans can get involved in.

The Mayor's Office of Flood Recovery has launched a new website as a way for the public to submit ideas and suggestions for the Long-Term Recovery Plan for Nashville and Davidson County.  In addition, the site empowers citizens to be engaged in helping shape the future of Nashville through idea generation, dialogue and prioritization. Anyone who lives and works in Davidson County is invited to contribute their ideas to the city's long-range recovery planning effort online through the interactive website. The first 500 people to visit the site and post an idea will each generate a $5 donation to the flood recovery organization of their choice. Visit http://townhall.nashvillerecovery.com or text ideas to (615) 270-9939.
