NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Derrick Henry showed off his speed on his 75-yard touchdown run on Sunday.
It's safe to say he looked fast.
But did you know he was 21.64 MPH fast?
According to the folks at Next Gen Stats, the Titans running back reached a max speed of 21.64 MPH on his 75-yard TD run in Sunday's win over the Texans. It was the fastest speed by a ball carrier in Week 13, per Next Gen Stats.
"Somebody told me about that," Henry said with a smile. "That's too slow. I have to get faster than that. I have to get faster."
Titans rookie Adoree' Jackson, one of the fastest players on the team, was impressed.
"I think his speed is underrated," Jackson said of the 6-foot-3, 247-pound Henry. "A guy with that size, to have that kind of speed, it's impressive. I think people underestimate it. You see a big guy like, let's say Usain Bolt out there running, it doesn't look like he is moving fast but his stride is unbelievable.
"Derrick is a fast guy – you saw in college where people couldn't catch him. You see him get that full head of steam going, he can move."
Henry, who leads the Titans with 629 yards on the season, said he worked on increasing his speed this offseason, in addition to improving in every area in his game after his rookie season.
An area where he thinks he still needs some work: Leaping into the stands. He did that at Nissan Stadium the end of his run.
"It was kind of an iffy moment," Henry said, smiling. "I didn't know if I should do it, because I never really did it before. It kind of looked funny. And then my sister called and said: Why did you do that? I said, 'I don't know, I was just trying to do something. It was a fun moment.
"Next time it will be better than it was when I get up there, instead of this half hanging on. I felt like I was falling off a cliff or something."
