NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have won back-to-back games since safety Kenny Vaccaro returned to the lineup, and it's been a team effort.
But Vaccaro has performed well in wins over the Cowboys and Patriots, and he's made his presence known in both contests.
Vaccaro had six tackles in Sunday's win over the Patriots, and he made a big hit on running back James White on the first defensive snap for a three-yard loss. Vaccaro had eight tackles against the Cowboys, and another tackle for a loss.
"I think he's always been a physical player," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said of Vaccaro. "He tackles well, he gets down there and did some good things for us last week. Had some things that need to get fixed, but it was good to see him tackle and play physical."
Vaccaro, signed prior to the start of season after Johnathan Cyprien was placed on Injured Reserve, said his mindset is to bring a physical style of play to the defense.
Vaccaro played five seasons with the Saints before joining the Titans.
"I have to do my assignments and stay within the defense," said Vaccaro, who has 36 tackles, a sack, and an interception in six games. "But I also take pride in setting the tone, being physical, and putting things on film that bring energy and motivate my teammates.
"If I can bring energy, that is my role and I am fine with that."
Morgan Update
Linebacker Derrick Morgan was a full participant in Thursday's practice, and it's looking like he could be back on Sunday against the Colts.
Morgan has missed the last three games since suffering a shoulder injury on October 14 against the Ravens. Vrabel said the team decided to hold Morgan out this past Sunday to give him another week.
"You have to have the perspective long-term. So, is it worth going out a week earlier with a higher chance of injury?" Morgan said. "It is one of those things where he made an executive decision and we are all on the same page."
The Titans will face the Colts, and quarterback Andrew Luck, on Sunday. Luck hasn't been sacked in the team's last four games.
"He's a really good competitor, a tough guy, who is never really out of a game," Morgan said of Luck. "Overall, he is one of the best competitors I've played against."
