NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The NFL Draft came and went over the weekend, and the Titans draft class was dominated by defensive players.

Three of the team's four picks, including the top three, came on the defensive side of the football.

And that was OK with quarterback Marcus Mariota.

"I am excited," Mariota said of the team's draft class. "I think Jon (Robinson) and coach (Mike) Vrabel did a great job of putting the team first. I think Jon has done that the last couple of years. I am excited to bring these new guys in and I think they'll help us win games. I am excited to get to work."

The Titans drafted Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans in the first round, and then traded up to get Boston College edge rusher Harold Landry III in the second round. The Titans drafted Arizona safety Dane Cruikshank in the fifth round before picking Washington State quarterback Luke Falk in the sixth round.

Mariota has some familiarity with Falk. The two share the same agent, and they worked out together one day during the offseason.

"I think he is a great guy," Mariota said of Falk. "I think he'll be a great addition to the room and I look forward to having him."

One position the Titans didn't address: receiver.

With Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis, Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe and Michael Campanaro, Mariota said he likes the makeup of the team's receiving corps. Zach Pascal and Darius Jennings are also in the mix.

Mariota spent some extra time with the receivers during the offseason in California.

"I think they're a great group," Mariota said. "They're young, and they are hungry, and I am excited for them to make some plays for us."

The Titans wrapped up a minicamp last week at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

Later this month the team will begin organized team activities.

"I think minicamp was up and down, but I think at the same time it was an opportunity for us to learn the offense, go out there and take what we'd been doing the last couple of weeks," Mariota said. "I think all in all, for the most part, being able to have a clean operation and do things how these guys want us to do it, I think overall it was pretty clean."

Mariota made his comments on Monday while on the team's caravan tour, which went to Fort Campbell, Ky., and then back to the Academy Sports and Outdoors in Clarksville.

Mariota, joined by teammates Ryan Succop and Nate Palmer, along with Robinson, Vrabel, the Titans cheerleaders and T-Rac, was a big hit.

The quarterback posed for pictures with fans, and signed just about everything imaginable.

"There's a number of things, from cut-outs to bench seats, you name it, I think we've probably signed it," Mariota said with a smile. "I think I've signed a couple of arms. But that's what is cool about this, an opportunity to meet and get to know the fans."
