The Tennessee Titans on Wednesday announced a partnership with voting and civic engagement group "I am a voter." in its support of the National Football League's "NFL Votes" campaign that launched on Aug. 6. The Titans and I am a voter. will work together over the next several months to educate Titans players, staff and fans on voting registration and activation.
NFL Votes is a league-wide, non-partisan initiative that supports and encourages the civic engagement and voting of NFL players, legends, club and league personnel and NFL fans from now until Election Day. The campaign will focus on three key components of the electoral process: voter education, voter registration and voter activation. More information on NFL Votes can be found at www.nfl.com/votes.
Teams had the option of partnering with one of three organizations to support the campaign, with the Titans aligning with I am a voter.
"What resonated with us the most about I am a voter. is its bipartisan and central belief that our democracy works best when we all participate," said Tina Tuggle, Titans Sr. Director of Community Impact. "We believe in the power of voting and that everyone's voice matters, and we hope we can use our own voice and the voices of our players to get people to the polls this election season."
The first step in the partnership was a presentation made to players on Tuesday, Aug. 11, led by I am a voter. Players were run through a thorough overview of voting processes, including how to register and state policies regarding absentee voting, for players registered in their home states. An additional presentation will soon be made to Titans staff. The team will also support NFL Votes through informational videos on its social media accounts featuring the three phases of the campaign.
The Titans will extend the opportunity for fans to participate in NFL Votes through a text-alert system that can identify their current registration status and provide other essential information on upcoming elections.
