NASHVILLE – The Titans on Monday moved receiver Colton Dowell to the team's 'Designated for Return' list.
This designation will open up a three-week window for Dowell to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from the team's Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Dowell is eligible to return to practice this week.
Coach Brian Callahan said recently the team wants to see Dowell practice, and to reward him for his work in rehab. Callahan did not commit to Dowell potentially playing in a game this season.
"I just want to see him," Callahan said of Dowell, who played in 10 games in 2023 before being injured. "He had done some really good things, especially as a gunner on special teams last year. A guy that people were excited about from everything I gathered when I got here. I see him all the time. I talk to him all the time. So, it'll be good to actually see him play football. I think for his mental state and for him to be in there as many months as he's been rehabbing, I think being back on the grass will go a long way."
Dowell, a seventh-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from Lebanon, suffered a torn ACL in the team's game at Houston on December 31, 2023. He began this season on the team's Reserve/PUP list, and he's been rehabbing and recovering ever since.
The Titans return to action on Sunday at the Indianapolis Colts.
