NASHVILLE – The Titans on Wednesday moved cornerback Chidobe Awuzie to the team's 'Designated for Return' list.
This designation will open up a three-week window for Awuzie to practice with the team, and he will not count against the team's 53-man roster until being activated from Injured Reserve.
Awuzie is eligible to return to practice today.
Coach Brian Callahan said recently the team is hopeful Awuzie would be able to return to action soon.
"That would be the hope," Callahan said. "The hope would be that he could come back and return relatively quickly, prior to the three-week window opening. But we'll see, he's got to get out and play football a little bit and practice and see how he responds to that. But the hope is that it won't take the full window for him to come back and play."
Awuzie, signed by the team this offseason after playing previously with the Cowboys and Bengals, played in the team's first three games of the season before suffering a groin injury against the Packers on September 22.
Awuzie was placed on Injured Reserve on September 27.
The Titans return to action on Sunday at the Washington Commanders.
