NASHVILLE – Will Levis got his first taste of joint practices with another team last year in Minnesota.
Beginning on Wednesday, the Titans quarterback will square off against another team, the Seattle Seahawks, this time in Nashville.
The Titans and Seahawks are scheduled to practice together on Wednesday and Thursday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park leading up to Saturday's preseason game at Nissan Stadium.
"I'm pumped," Levis said. "From my rookie season last year, I remember our joint practices out in Minnesota (with the Vikings) and just how intense and fun and competitive it was. I think our team came out of that trip a much better team, just with that experience. So, we're looking to get the same out of this trip, even though it's at home. So, it will be a little more comfortable for us for them to come to our spot. We know they're going to throw a bunch of different looks at us, kind of similar to what we've seen throughout camp so it's going to be a good rehearsal for us with our rules and what our guys know."
The two teams are scheduled to practice from 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. each day. They're expected work in a number of periods, from special teams to 7-on-7 to team periods. The Titans have regularly practiced beginning at 8:30 a.m. during the first few weeks of training camp.
New and prospective season-ticket members are among those who will be on hand, along with sponsors, but all tickets for the two days have already been distributed.
Coach Brian Callahan said his team's front-liners will get plenty of work, and it would likely impact playing time for the starters in the team's second preseason game.
"It will affect it," Callahan said. "We're practicing a little bit later because of they're on west coast time. So, we're trying to accommodate their schedule. It's going to be hotter, it's going to be more physical because you're playing against somebody else.
"So, I'm hoping for really two great days of controlled physical work against them, and that will likely lead to the some of the starters playing less in this game just because of the amount of work they're going to get in practice. So, I'll officially give you some more play time information at the end of the week, but I think that the starting point is going to be to play just probably a little bit less, if at all, depending on how the two practices go against Seattle. So, just because it's going to be such a heavy load on those guys and emphasis will be for the ones to get a lot more reps, and then the twos and threes will play a lot more in the game."
