NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans announced today the launch of the franchise's first series of youth football day camps, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Camps will take place in Memphis, Knoxville and the greater Nashville area throughout June and July of 2017, with expansion planned in additional markets in the summer of 2018.
Camps are designed for boys and girls of all experience levels, ages 6 to 14 years. Based on experience level and developmental goals, campers will select one of two instruction programs – comprehensive or accelerated.
Through non-contact instruction, all participants will run, throw, catch, defend, form-block, form-tackle and explode out of a stance with proper technique and improved speed. All campers will participate in USA Football's Heads Up curriculum, designed for a better, safer approach to the game.
All camps are led by professional, USA Football-certified coaches with supplemental instruction from former Titans players including Neil O'Donnell, Blaine Bishop, Brad Hopkins, Derrick Mason, Al Smith, Chris Hopeand others.
In addition to the football curriculum, all campers will participate in the V5 Life Skills program, which highlights character traits to improve one's approach to football and life.
"The Tennessee Titans are continually looking to provide unique opportunities that foster the growth and development of youth football in our community," said Josh Corey, Tennessee Titans Youth Football Coordinator. "We are extremely excited to deliver a positive and well-rounded learning experience for all camp participants through the Heads Up curriculum, focusing on player health and safety, as well as quality instruction from former Titans greats."
All camps are executed in partnership with Pro Sports Experience, LLC (PSE). PSE has 15 years of experience providing similar program services to four other NFL clubs, as well as the NFL Alumni Association and USA football.
"We are thrilled to partner with the Tennessee Titans and further develop the game within this great football community," said Tom Finks, President of Pro Sports Experience. "Without question, we can help kids develop athletically and become better football players. Even more, with the tremendous quality of people on board, we can really make an impact teaching life skills through football."
Most camps will operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., with extended program options available.
