NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kicker Ryan Succop keeps making field goals, and the Titans are rewarding him for it.

The Titans and Succop on Tuesday agreed to a five-year contract extension that will keep him with the team in 2018 and beyond. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month.

"I feel really blessed to be in this situation," Succop said after signing the deal. "It is kind of a surreal moment. You work so hard for such a long time and when something like this comes together, you kind of sit back and go, 'Wow.' It just feels incredibly humbling and I am really excited about being here for many more years in Nashville.

"I have a ton of great teammates and it's a great organization. Our GM, Jon Robinson, our new head coach Mike Vrabel … we have so many great people in the building and of course Amy Adams Strunk, I love her. I think we all love her. So I am very appreciative of this and really excited moving forward and excited about getting back to work."

Succop initially joined the Titans in 2014 after playing his first five NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

During his time in Tennessee, Succop has appeared in every game and made 90 of his 104 field goal attempts, ranking ninth in the league with a success rate of 85.5 percent.

Succop ranks 12th among all active players with 913 career points. He has made 209 of his 251 career attempts on field goals, as well as 286 of his 292 career extra point attempts.

Since Succop joined the Titans in 2014, he's 82-of-89 on field goal attempts below 50 yards. That 92% FG percentage trails only Justin Tucker (97%) and Stephen Gostkowski (92%) among kickers with 50 games in that span, per ESPN Stats & Info.

In 2017, his ninth NFL season, Succop made 35-of-42 field goals, and he set an NFL record by connecting on 56 consecutive successful field goals from inside 50 yards (2014-17).

The 35 made field goals was a career-best for Succop, who also scored a career-high 136 points, which tied for the most in franchise history (Al Del Greco, 1998).

Succop was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September after leading the NFL with 38 points and 10 field goals. He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on all five field goals (48, 32, 40, 48, 23) and all three extra point chances in a win over Indianapolis on October 16.

During his career, Succop has made seven career game-winning field goals, including one from 47 yards in an overtime win at Cleveland in 2017.

In 2017, Succop set the NFL record with his 47th consecutive field goal make under 50 yards against the Colts (10/16/17), and he made his 56th consecutive successful field goal from inside 50 yards (2014-17) later in the season.

In 2016, Succop's 91.7 percent field goal rate (22 of 24) was the best single-season performance of his career and the third-best percentage in franchise history (92.3 by Rob Bironas in 2010 and 92.3 by Al Del Greco in 1998). Succop's percentage ranked third in the NFL in 2016 behind only Justin Tucker (97.4) and Matt Bryant (91.9)
