NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans on Friday interviewed Teryl Austin and Mike Mularkey for the team's head coaching position.
Among the group they met with today included Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk and Kenneth Adams IV from the ownership group, President Steve Underwood, and Jon Robinson, who was hired as the team's general manager on Thursday.
Jaguars assistant head coach-offense/offensive line coach Doug Marrone, who spent two seasons as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, interviewed for the job on Thursday.
Austin has spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. He worked previously as defensive backs coach with the Ravens, Cardinals and Seahawks in the NFL, and has past experience in the collegiate ranks at Florida, Michigan, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Penn State.
Austin played football in college at Pittsburgh.
Mularkey took over as interim coach for the Titans in November, a position he held the last nine games of the season after the team parted ways with head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Mularkey has previous head coaching experience with the Bills (2004-05) and the Jaguars (2012). He was also offensive coordinator with the Steelers (2001-03), Dolphins (2006) and Falcons (2008-11)
In three of the four seasons Mularkey spent with the Falcons, the Atlanta offense produced a 1,000-yard rusher, a 1,000-yard receiver and a 3,000-yard passer in the same campaign.
