NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans were host to the Team Championships of the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition Sunday, October 24.
The competition took place on the Titans practice field inside the bubble at Baptist Sports Park Sunday morning. Forty boys and girls from three states (Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky) ages 6-15 competed in five different age divisions. Each participant was measured on one punt, one pass, and one kick off a tee with both distance and accuracy figured into the final total.
The day's winners in each age division hope that their scores were high enough to earn the opportunity to qualify for the National Finals held at a NFL Playoff game in January. The four highest totals out of all 32 first-place finishers from each NFL club advance to the national PPK championship competition.
Following the competition the children and two guests were given the opportunity to watch the Eagles-Titans game from the sideline of LP Field. At halftime the competitors showcased their skills during an on-field demonstration. The winners were recognized during the third quarter and had their pictures taken with their awards on the sideline.
The NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick gives over 3 million children across the nation an opportunity to compete in a fun and challenging environment. Established in 1961, the Punt, Pass, and Kick is free to all participants. With the help of 20 local volunteers who organized and ran the competition, the Tennessee Titans were able to continue this great tradition and give area children a day they will never forget.
