NASHVILLE, Tenn. —** The Tennessee Titans (0-1) play their first home game of the preseason this week against the Carolina Panthers (1-0). Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 2 p.m. CDT on Saturday, Aug. 19.

JOINT TRAINING CAMP SESSIONS

Prior to the matchup on Saturday, the Titans and Panthers will conduct a pair of joint training camp sessions. The clubs will practice at Saint Thomas Sports Park (460 Great Circle Road, Nashville) on Wednesday, Aug. 16 and Thursday, Aug. 17. Each session begins at 9:15 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

THE BROADCAST**

Saturday's game will be televised on the Titans Preseason TV Network, including flagship WKRN-News 2 in Nashville. Play-by-play announcer Dan Hellie and analyst Charles Davis will call the action, and Cory Curtis will report from the sidelines. NFL Network will carry the live telecast nationally.

The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone, will carry the game across the Mid-South with the "Voice of the Titans" Mike Keith, analyst Dave McGinnis, gameday host Rhett Bryan and sideline reporter Jonathan Hutton.

LAST WEEK

The Titans opened the preseason last week on the road against the New York Jets. Despite limiting the Jets to seven points—and no points in the final 56 minutes of the contest—the Titans were unable to find the end zone and ultimately fell by a score of 7-3.

The defensive effort included two sacks, a fumble recovery and 10 tackles for loss. The Jets found little success running the football, averaging 1.8 yards on 31 carries and finishing with one rushing first down. After giving up 73 yards on the Jets' opening touchdown drive, including a 53-yard pass completion, the Titans defense allowed only 178 total yards and no plays more than 14 yards the rest of the way.

Quarterback Marcus Mariota saw live action for the first time since injuring his right fibula in Week 16 of the 2016 campaign. He played the first two series and took nine snaps, completing two of his three passes for 15 yards.

Alex Tanney received the bulk of the work at quarterback. The second-year reserve was 11-of-27 for 132 yards with an interception.

THE PANTHERS

The Panthers arrive in Tennesee on the heels of a 27-17 victory over the Houston Texans in their preseason opener. The performance was highlighted by second-year wide receiver Damiere Byrd's four catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton, the 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player, did not participate in the preseason opener. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound signal caller continues his recovery from offseason surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Filling in for Newton, veteran Derek Anderson started the contest and played two series. Anderson passed for 76 yards and a touchdown before giving way to Joe Webb, who had 128 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Ron Rivera, now in his seventh year as head coach of the Panthers, hopes to return his team to where it was two seasons ago. The 2015 club went 15-1 in the regular season and advanced to Super Bowl 50. In 2016, the Panthers were 6-10 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
